We hopefully will have a good run in the cup, starting on Sunday. It will take our minds of tonight and hopefully a good result will give the team some confidence.
It couldn't come at a better time.

Maybe we'll play 4 - 6- 0, seeing as we're away in this match. It's important to control the game don't cha know.

Shall be a very intresting game to watch,if we win its pressure off Rafa,if we lose its gonna be total bedlam-really coudnt get any worse.

It will also be intresting to see who he plays aswell. Will he be afraid to go for youthful team or will he stand strong?
Might just rest Gerrard and Torres, give Alonso a game as hes slowly coming back from injury,Pennant will also play,Crouch will defo play probaly with Voronin but i hope Kuyt.Hobbs will probaly play alongside Carra with Arbeloa taking right back and Riise also replacing Kewell who had a terrible game tonight.Aurelio LB, but SHOULD and BETTER play Reina in goals,Itanje just too dodgy there.

    Sure is.

If he wants to play a weakened team, the advice is: Don't even think about it. Burnley ring a bell??

That's what we said 2 years ago, and at Burnley the year before.

We're not exactly playing Chelsea, but there were easier draws out there. We couldn't beat Wigan last night, and struggled to beat a similiar side, Derby, last week.

The first team should win, but this is the FA Cup Shock Round, and if players are rested, this is a real banana skin. With the league gone, this game is of vital importance to us.

Exactly, I hope Alonso is practicing his half way shots again for this one.

To be honest, I dont give a sh*t about this game. Rafa will throw together a an outfit with the likes of Vorinin, Riise and Sissoko in the team.

I usually dont agree with rotation, however Reina, Carragher, Gerrard and Torres should get a rest as they have been carrying the team in the last two months.

    luton

to be honest i dont know what kind of team he is gonna put out over the weekend for luton, i think he will defo make a few changes and maybe a few suprises in there to, he will prob play 1 up front and 1 behind the front man, maybe similar to the formation against wigan.

Either way it is luton, we shouldnt underestimate them but in saying that we should beat them.

I agree. While obviously I would like to do well in the cup these players will need a rest, even if they are on the bench. We should have enough quality to step up and beat Luton. Some of the 'squad' players who have high expectations, Lucas, Babel & Hobbs should really be good enough for this, time to step forward.

    Itandje

Finnan Hobbs Hyppia (if fit) Aurelio

    Pennant Alonso Lucas Kewell

    Babel Kuyt

Another cracking game with us winning would do the job please!

    Uh-Oh

Steven Gerrard, Alvaro Arbeloa and Fabio Aurelio have all been ruled out of Sunday's FA Cup third round clash at Luton Town.
All three players picked up muscle injuries against Wigan in midweek and are sidelined for the trip to Kenilworth Road.

Manager Rafael Benitez confirmed: "Steven and Alvaro have a calf problem and Fabio has a hamstring injury.

"They are all out of this weekend's game and will work with the physios to be ready for Middlesbrough next Saturday."

Whats the story with Sami and Agger, are they anywhere close to coming back into the first team? I reckon we could cope without Stevie (play Alonso and Masch in the middle, and two up front) and Riise should be able to cope with Luton's wingers. If it came down to it I reckon Hobbs could cope fine. He certainly didn't impress against Reading, but showed some fine composure against Chelsea in the Carling Cup.
