Sad day for me. My favorite band ever. They had been on wane for last few yeArs but so many great memories of them. Slane gig rocked
thats a shame they have some really great tunes wether your into them or not automatic for the people has to go down as one of the greatest albums ever and i dont say that lightly
They were getting worse near the end but had some very good songs. Loved what's the frequency Kenneth? Cos it's got my name in it
They did seem like a band that weren't in it for the money though. Some great songs, love nightswimming.
... from this news, quite possibly mate They were a super band in their day. Happy to admit owning a few of their CDs and would still turn up the volume on the radio, if one of their tracks come on. Hope your right mate ... No doubt that would bring out the Shiny Happy People
Loved Slane, Oasis were deadly at that gig too (the music anyway). Im of a different opinion, I dont think they had a 'great' album after the Monster album. Liked them but never got into their more recent stuff.
Never liked them and i thought they broke up years ago. They must have been around for 25 years at least so you'd have to be happy with that if you're a fan. Most bands dont last more than a couple of albums.
late 80s/early 90s was their peak,"out of time"and"automatic for the people"are two forever classic albums,a sad day for music..
I figured "Call it a day" must be the title of their new album or something. That would have been a good title.
Great band in their day but they have been waining over the last few years and the albums havent been great. I doubt we will see them re-form as they have made a fortune as it is and Stipe doesnt seem like he is the money mad sort, he'll just become a producer if he even stays in music.
glad i seen them now at ardgillan castle in 2005,they may have been well past it by then regarding albums or new material but byjaysus they still knew how to it live, rather well!!excellent gig it was...
Always liked their lyricks not many bands write good tunes that you can sit and listen to the words of the track not just the music, I will miss their albums being listening to them since introduced to the music by my mates older brother back in the 80's in national school . . . .
