Inter Milan have sacked coach Gian Piero Gasperini after just five matches and three months in charge.

The former Genoa manager, 53, lost four games, taking just a point from Roma, and his side sit 17th in Serie A.

His last match was a disastrous 3-1 defeat on Tuesday by Novara, who were only promoted last season.

Inter also lost 1-0 to Trabzonspor at the San Siro in the Champions League and were beaten by AC Milan in the Italian Super Cup in August.

Gasperini was a replacement for Leonardo, who is now at Paris Saint-Germain.

Gasperini's recordContinue reading the main story 6 Aug: Milan 2-1 Inter (Super Cup)
11 Sep: Palermo 4-3 Inter (league)
14 Sep: Inter 0-1 Trabzonspor (Champions League)
17 Sep: Inter 0-0 Roma (league)
20 Sep: Novara 3-1 Inter (league)
A statement from Inter read: "Inter announces that today's training session has been carried out by Daniele Bernazzani and Giuseppe Baresi.

"The club wishes to thank Gian Piero Gasperini for the effort shown during his tenure and manifests its true disappointment for the interruption of the relationship with the coach."

Inter president Massimo Moratti questioned Gasperini after the defeat at Novara.

He said: "When you lose in the manner that we did against Novara, there is nothing positive to take from that.

"Gasperini did not seem to be in control."

After that, Gasperini hit back: "Moratti has declared that I don't have the support of the players.

"The rapport with the group is optimum. If the problem is the coach, then it has an easy solution.

"If, instead, as I believe, the problem is another one, then we must resolve it through work."

Inter have yet to announce who will replace Gasperini. They travel to Bologna on Saturday before taking on CSKA Moscow in Russia in the Champions League four days later.

Thar Morratti lad wouldn't want to have any patience.

Ah but that was only because he had Mourinho's team.

And Gasperini only had bad results because he inherited Rafa's team ;)

So it's all his fault :D

    Bleedin crazy though.

Its a Poisioned chalice that Job.It will become like the Madrid job in my opinion.I think Inter are slowing falling from the Graces of Italian football. With the re-emergence of Ac Milan, a New look Roma side, and not to Mention a very very good Napoli side(Whether you like their fans or not) Inter are going to find it diffcult. Also Juve look decent this year, and with their new stadium, things look on the up for them.

    Inter are a ageing team.

their new manager will be the 5th in something like 16 months. it's absolutley nuts...and yeah, it IS all rafa's fault!!! i reckon napoli could win serie A this season if they dont do anything daft...very good side, a lot pacier than most italian sides and work very hard too. depends on their mentality and if teh CL is too much of a distraction but they should definitely consider themselves as contenders

Was watching the second half of this game last night and they were shocking. Started out with a 3-4-3 and by the end they were all over the gaff.. They had some lad called Obi and Japanese lad playing on the right side.

Was talking to an AC fan only last week and he reckons that Inter are going to be exposed for their part in influencing refs around the same time as Juve were at it. Juve were stripped of their title, however its been too long now for Inter to stripped, but every single club in Italy hates them because they got away with it. He is biased as an AC fan, but Milan, Fiorentina and Juve and had big penalties in the last few years while Inter got off scott free even through they were the worst offenders.

They have an aging squad in decline, Mourinho got out at the right time.

Sky Italia reports that Claudio Ranieri's lawyers expected at Inter HQ in about an hour's time. 1 yr deal on offer, Claudio wants 2.
