Went so see Pete in the Academy last night. He was unbelievable and looks healthy and well again. People can say what they like about the bloke but he has great talent. Great songwriter and musician. Savage set with loads of old Libertines classics. Just Pete and his guitar and he had the place rockin! Couple of new songs and an Amy Winehouse cover to finish up! Musically, the man is pure class
That was never in doubt with Pete. I hate the way fans of his use that line to justify everything else. Just because the man is talented doesn't mean you forget about everyting else, same as was the case with Amy Winehouse.
What annoys me more is that people just say he's shite and when you ask them about his music they can't name one song or else they have never even heard any of his songs. Ye the bloke is messed up but I think with his recent jail stint and Amy's death it might make him pull through his troubles
He's not shite, he's far from it. He is an incredibly talented man as previously said. And I would agree with you. But his talent and problems should go hand in hand. As I said he shouldn't be immune. I'm glad to hear he's looking healthy. Hopefully he's off the gear and trying to turn his life around, and I wish him the best of luck in that respect. But theres a saying about old dogs, new tricks, or watering holes and horses. Anyway you catch my drift.
I've no idea if the man is talented or not but if a normal Joe soap did some of the stuff that he did I'd think he was a scumbag. So the fact he can play a guitar doesn't change that for me. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.
Personally I don't get him and see what the fuss is about, although I like a few of the Libertines tunes.
How the man has not been banged up for life is beyond me.Or how he is not dead is something else which is beyond me too.Had his Babyshambles album Shotters Notion and i dont know what to make of it.Some decent tunes on it and some rubbish.Seen him live too as well, and he was abit of a shambles.This was though a good few years ago.Wouldnt be my cup of tea any more though.But each to their own.
Brilliant songwriter. Absolutely loved the Libertines and back then he was a bit of a hero to me. I'll always be interested in his music and would love to see him kick the gear but some of the stuff he has done has been ridiculous and I'm fed up hearing about him being a twat and acting like a child. Some of the recent controversy about him being a suspect or a possible cause of the death of others is even more worrying and it seems like it will take a lot to get him back anywhere near the straight and narrow. Hopefully Amy Winehouse's death might be a wake up call alright
