just lifted this off raotl its really well written needs to be put out there and hopefully the target sees it http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2011/09/a ... -to-lawro/
That letter is certainly filled with honesty and passion. For some reason part of me thinks some of it is a little OTT while on the other I hand I'm thinking he deserves to be slaughtered like that.
sorry eric i hadnt looked in there now before i posted it up.i think its brilliantly written to be honest alright it might be overly passionate in places but it needed saying and its honest and probably how 99% of us feel about that clown
Ive emailed the BBC before and didnt ger a response so i woulnt be expecting a response from them. But thats a cracking piece.
Have to say I agree, i think to much energy is going into going after the wrong targets. Mark Lawrenson is not the enemy. He served our club manfully and i don't think he deserved that for the comment above. At teh end of teh day he was trying to further the cause by asking for the truth even if he should have chose his words more carefully
That letter will only serve to alienate people who have always supported the cause. One comment taken the wrong way 22 years after the event and you get an open letter publicly slaughtering you. Comes across as militant and gives fuel to those who abuse those who rightly seek justice. An open letter smacks of internet warrior to me. Write all the letters you want, just don't write an open letter as if you speak for Liverpool fans everywhere. He certainly doesn't represent me. In my opinion this type of thing does more to harm the cause than help it.
I read this letter the other day on TAW, though it was way over the top. Now we have got to the stage where if someone so much as utters a comment out of place TAW and other blogs (including posts on this site) will pillar that person ..... i find it quite disgusting and wrong. And the masses stand by and cheer "that fcuking cnut, i always hated him" !
Its not only the one comment though is it, what about the dismissal of the 6 mins against Arsenal with 'now we can get on with the football' basically saying the calls and fight for justice are trivial. and its the 'simngle little comments' like this that have continued to put stumbling blocks in the way of the fight for justice. Its these comments, on public tv or radio, which lead to the general uneducated public having a pre-determined idea of who was to blame and of 'those scousers'. Once that initial idea is put in peoples heads it is unbelievably hard to change their mind or for them to see that truth.
All valid points, but i just don't see a public attack on "Lawro" as being the best approach to rectifying that. An open letter outlining the fans disappointment with those comments and requesting he be more vigilant in the future would have been more apporpriate in my opinion but that's just my opinion it's everyones right to disagree. I know it's an emotive subject and rightly so but i think that letter is OTT
No, that's what you're interpreting it to mean. It's a pretty big leap in fact. Disregard all the good work and good things he has said, let's just focus on anything we can find to make him an enemy and then slate him. You can try to justify this all the ways you want, if you ask me this is just counterproductive. It doesn't help. I doubt most of the families who lost people would think an open letter like that's going to be help to the cause.
