Shamelessly stealing an idea ... Ok the idea, You will be required to post your all-time favourite twenty albums in order of preference. 20 points will be awarded for your first choice down to 1 point for your last choice. At 9pm on Friday 9th September 2011 I'll collect the votes and bring you the definitive Irish Kop top 20 albums of all time. Restrictions: A maximum of 3 albums from any artist (in this context John Lennon's solo work would be considered to be from a different artist to his Beatles work) No compilations. No greatest hits. No live albums. No soundtracks unless the album is performed by a single artist. So the challenge to IK - spend the next 1 to 8 days looking through your collections. Discover gems you forgot you had. Discover monstrosities you can now use as tea coasters. Narrow your choice down till your have your favourite twenty albums, be it those your love playing, those which are highly personal or those you think are works of art. Decide the order. Rip up the order and start again - you know you will. Then rip it up again. Start chewing your nails. And then nervously submit your list. Use this thread for any discussions on who you're considering and questions about the vote, but don't post your final top 20s here do it in the Thread i'll set up seaperatly! Post your Top 20 here, http://www.irishkop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19174 cheers Irish Kop Commissioner of Elections. And remember its all fun, Sarge.
As a teen in the 80s The Joshua Tree is one of my all-time favourites because at 15 this album hit me like a music freight train, i'm sure older and younger people have that 1 album in their era that done the same. Strange thing was i loved my music and still do but much of what i actually listened to in the 80s hardly ever gets a play these days and its in time that i have found the music that is me, The Stones, U2, The Jam, Weller, The Who, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Zeppelin and a little bit of Creedance + much much more. But these days its now The Manics, KOL, Snow Patrol and so.......
Looking over my CD collection and i am finding a few little gems, a big happy shout goes out to Travis, Ocean Colour Scene, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke, The Charlatans, David Grey, Areta Franklin, Nina Simone, Queen and The Kinks.
