Liverpool Football Club have tonight confirmed they have cancelled the registration of Philipp Degen by mutual consent.

The Swiss defender moved to Anfield from Borussia Dortmund in 2008 and made 13 first-team appearances.

Wish him all the best but like most of his fellow reds that departed today just wasn't up to the task.

Nice one, it'll give him more time to concentrate on his modelling career.

Delighted that he's gone.Probably the best thing to pay him off to get rid. There
wasn't a hope in hell that any club would be looking for a walking sick note.

Quite possible we paid up the entirety of his contract but better that them him just hanging around.

I remember watching him in the 06 World Cup and thinking he’d do a decent job offensively for an average side. He had a lot of pace and energy (before all the injuries) but technically/positionally wise wasn’t up to the task of playing for a top club. I guess his ‘highlights’ here were decent performances on the wing in the games against Stoke/Spurs in Jan 2010. Which says it all really.

Has there ever been another player at LFC had his contract paid up and told to go?
