the unions informed the binmen of the results of the independent evaluation last wednesday and unfortunately they agreed with the corpo/city council's view that it is no longer sustainable.
it looks as though they'll have withdrawn from the service by the end of this year.:(
when these private crowds get the monopoly on the city the sh1t is really going to hit the fan,i can see it getting very messi

Any wavers can say goodbye, families are struggling as it is and prices will go up no doubt, lets see what Gilmore and his Labour shower are made of now because FG will back this 100%.

Its one of those jobs where you don't need any experience. You can just pick it up as you go along.

Judging by the sound of it,the union don't seem to be putting up huge resistance. I'd imagine it will be a mixture of redeployments and voluntary redundancies. I don't see any forced redundancies. Obviously though,i could be wrong.

They will be redeployed . The jobs are gone for good tho . Contractors have taken over and in future will charge whatever they want for bin lifts . Like water charges too - they will rise to make share holders wealthy off the backs of the poor . Paving repair is all but gone too . Most manual labor jobs that we had in the Council 20 years ago are gone . Cheap labor brought in from foreign parts of the world are making us redundant at a time when Irish folk are emigrating . We are being goverened by criminals and traitors . We will borrow nearly a billion euros next year to keep well heeled cnuts in jobs in the charity **business ** while our children starve and their parents cant afford school books . I wish the fkuc Paddy had a spine - fight these things and take our country back - I hate them all with all my strength the treasonous dogs .

Our trade unions ( wont name but common knowledge) where caught with their fingers in the cookie jar a few years back so have been compromised . They are worthless pigs as they have let the working classes down. Union membership makes the swine at the top wealthy as they are payed so well. This country above the working classes stinks to high Heaven with thieves and traitors .
NOT ONE BANKER CHARGED YET AND THEY LOCKED UP THE POOR FOR NOT PAYING TV LICENSE . They have turned Ireland into an empoverished piss stain and a county of germany .

Don't know Paul, obviously negotiations will begin now with the unions and the council but none of us will lose our jobs,as babbsnads said we'll be redeployed.
It's hard to take cos it's taken me years to get to the position I'm in now and now It's being taken from us but at the end of the day I'll still have a job so I can't complain cos there's plenty of people out there with no job.
Out of curiosity, what do people on here pay for their bin lift?
It'd be interesting to hear the different charges from around the country..

With aes €148 a year then €6 a lift general waste use about once every 2 months, €3 a lift brown bin dont use as I compost myself, recycleables free have 2 bins lifted every 2 weeks and glass free once a month. so total about €180-€190 a year.

€10.50 a lift with Greyhound in Tallaght. I make as much use as I can out of the green bin and there is a bring centre down the road for all the jars and bottles. I'd say I put the bin out about once every 4-5 weeks. Have had the brown bin (€4 a lift) for a year now and only put it out once.

    €10.50,fcuk me that's steep.
Is there no competition out there?
These private crowds are moving in on DCC turf and are obviously charging a lot less than €10.50 cos DCC charge €6 a lift.
They have to be charging even less than €6 a lift to entice people away from DCC but little do they know that as soon as they get the monopoly the price is going to shoot up.

I was going to change Mark but on of the neighbours had a bit of trouble with them missing collections and ended up going back to Greyhound so that put me off.

SDCC were charging €10.50 before Greyhound tookover. I think Greyhound said they would honour any waivers for the first year and then "review" them.

With all these public services being handed over to the private sector what next ?? dare not think tbh . WTF are we paying our taxes for ?? Gambling debts -thats what is going on  . All those public sector jobs gone forever . Wait till someone rings for a fire brigade and is told to speak slowly ..........in pigeon english - its coming folks . We need a general strike . Break this Country"s back and run the traitors out . Then rebuild - that may take time and hurt , but would be worth it to see the place governed by honest types . WE OWE IT TO OUR CHILDREN !!!!.

We dont use any of the bin collecters down here we recycle all papers and glass at a bring centre down the road, All food scraps go to dogs. Make sure not to buy anything with packaging we cant recycle. Everyone needs to go this way stop shops selling us sh1te to get rid of. Bought peppers the other day the shop hadnt any loose ones only the prepacked ones took them out of the plastic and stuck them in my basket loose. We couldnt stop the junk mail coming in so we collected a heap of it put it an envelop wrote a note on it stating we did not want junk mail and stuck it in the letter box at the post office it took 2 efforts to stop the junk mail.
