I wouldn't take any notice of Sky Bet.There almost never right. Having said that I think this will now happen.
Craig Bellamy has taken a step closer to making a dramatic return to Liverpool after Manchester City agreed to let him leave for nothing. City are prepared to negotiate a settlement with Bellamy, covering the remaining 10 months of his £95,000-a-week contract, to get him off their wage bill. This will clear the way for the Wales striker to return to Anfield on a free transfer, four years after he was sold following a fall-out with manager Rafa Benitez. Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is interested in signing Bellamy, but is not prepared to pay a fee for the much-travelled striker, who was dubbed the ‘Nutter with the Putter’ after allegedly hitting team-mate John Arne Riise with a golf club during a row. A few days later, Bellamy celebrated scoring in a Champions League win over Barcelona in the Nou Camp by mimicking a golf swing. City are prepared to waive a transfer fee for Bellamy, because boss Roberto Mancini has made it clear he wants rid of him - declaring last week that he would never play for him again. The Liverpool manager believes Bellamy could provide ideal cover for Luis Suarez, with David Ngog set to join Bolton. The Reds face competition from Tottenham for the player, but the 32-year-old, who has also been linked with QPR, is understood to prefer a move to Liverpool. He has already knocked back offers from two of his other former clubs, Celtic and Cardiff, in favour of the Reds. Liverpool, who have agreed a £7million deal with Uruguayan side Nacional for Uruguay international defender Sebastian Coates, will now wait for Bellamy to agree his pay-off with City before offering him a lucrative one-year deal, with the option of an extension. Wales manager Gary Speed claims Liverpool would be a great move for Bellamy, who spent last season on loan at Cardiff. “It’s only natural Craig is going to be linked with top clubs because he is a top player,” he said. “Liverpool are a fantastic club and if that’s true and it comes off, that would be great. Hopefully by the end of the transfer window things will be sorted out.” Meanwhile, Alberto Aquilani has passed his medical at AC Milan and completed his season-long loan move to the San Siro. The Italian midfielder will trigger a clause in the loan deal to join Milan permanently for £7million next summer if he plays 25 games for the Rossoneri. “I’m delighted to have arrived here,’’ he said. “This is a leap in my career. I have come to Milan to do well.”
So the Mirror are saying he only has a year left, and some people are reporting two years.95 k is a hell of a lot of money for a player who is his age.If you could get it down to about 50k it would be a good deal.
On 19 January 2009, Bellamy completed his move to Manchester City on a four and a half-year deal for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £14 million.According to Wikipedia.
Sounds correct if my very bad memory is correct After paying £14m in Jan I'd say they wanted another 4 on his contract for the start of his first full season
Hummmm..... I must admit, I've mixed views about this lad returning to LFC .... his history cannot be forgotten and there's bound to be a few players in the Premiership just waiting to get even with him and I don't just mean one fella who used to play for us, either ! Furthermore, at his age, has he still got the hunger, would be be willing to warm the bench and be, at best, 3rd choice striker - maybe 4th, depending on how things are going for Kuyt etc ? Personally, I'd far rather we were looking at taking a youngster from either our own youth system, or a prospect from elsewhere ....
I think he'd be perfect for us at the moment, can play off Carroll in a 442, or equally as good playin in a 433, and would offer us a bit of pace. We badly need another striker! No fee and he could replace Aquilani on the wage bill!
Half his salary and go for it. He's a good player experienced and will get goals of the bench. If we get him and Coates would be over the moon with the business done in this transfer window.
Boyhood Pool fan, last chance in the big time, a chance he probably thought had gone. I'd say he'd be raring to go and we should see the best of him. If the money side of things can be sorted out, I'd be delighted with getting him. Better than maybe having to depend on an untried inexperienced young player off the bench or even starting if we had a few injuries.
I actually think this is abit of a no brainer if it goes through. He's still got a bit of pace, once we don't give him any type of long term deal, 2 years max I'd be fairly happy with this. If he dos start a few games, i think him and Suarez could be lethal with so much energy and movement. Plus by the time he's gone it should hopefully have bridged the gap between either finding someone better or giving the likes of Morgan a chance.
