Will we bid for him? I'm like Coyle and very surprised there have been no concrete bids for one of the most promising centre halves in the premiership especially with only one year left to run on his deal. He scores goals, is pacy, reads the game well and can pass and tackle. Not the strongest maybe but a better player than Dann from what I've seen imho. I think we could do with him anyway and he would tick all NESV's boxes. Come on DC make it a perfect summer. As yet though, there has been no offer for Gary Cahill, who has been linked with a big-money move to Arsenal for much of the summer. “I am surprised there has been no firm offer,†said Coyle. “Teams have had six or seven weeks already. “I totally understand if they have made offers and talks are progressing, but why leave it until the last minute?â€
I too think he'd be a great signing but just cant see Kenny being ruthless enough to drop JC and would instead drop Agger, whom I think is our current best defender. What do you think on that matter? Would Kenny dare upset a dressing room stalwart and pair Agger and Cahill together? Also, if that deal goes through it's looking like Ngog would go the other way which would swing the deal in our favour financially at least.
Dalglish will drop Carragher no bother if he wants to. I was reading an article on his previous stint as Liverpool Mgr and he changed the captain in his first Year. He took the Reserves off I think Phil Neal and he was laughing recently about saying " I think Phil wanted to hit me " and sure Sammy Lee was effectively pushed aside in the last 12 Months. You have to be ruthless to be a top Mgr, he is.
Yeah I see what you're saying but that was when he was a relative newbie as a manager and would have been more likely to want to stamp his authority. Now that he seemingly cant put a foot wrong at the club I'd just be a little worried that he might not want to upset anyone. As you say, top managers are ruthless so I'd hope he would rather quality over a sense of loyalty. Either way Cahill would be a very good addition. We seem to be gathering back a bit of credibility in the transfer market with the potential Enrique signing (and his relatively low price compared to other aquisitions) so signing Cahill would really put out a better statement from us I think.
Getting ahead of myself, apologies. IF he were to sign he'd be a great addition. A lot of paper talk as with all of our signings so far. So I would be hopeful.
Clearly we are after a CB and therefore he's clearly in the mix. We went after that CB fellow that joined Utd. He only has a Year left on his contract so it would make no sense to make your move before near the transfer window. Same as Enrique. Personally I think fellows get a little carried on about sources and all that. If there are good players out there then we will be interested in them. What difference does a newspaper story make. Now if someone said I was just talking to Dalglish and he said ...... that would be a good source.
Cant see SSN having a breaking news headline "there is no transfer news stay stuned for more info " and the same goes for the papers , i reckon at least 70% thats written about transfers and the like is made up to fill up space
As regards moving Carra out im sure he himself would step aside if there was a better centre back pairing available which at the moment there isn't. Cahill and Agger would be brilliant
IMO if Arsenal go for Dan and leave uses the only option for Cahill or the other way around We will then bid for 1 of them , hope it's Cahill.
Because last season your chairman said you didn't have a pot to piss in. Whoever gets Cahill will be getting a bargain, below 10m I'd say.
It would be strange to spend the best part of 10 mil when we could go at least another season without signing a CB and get him free next summer. Maybe we have an "understanding" with him already!!
