    Hey Lads,

    I backed 2 horses the day before last. Both were at 7s and I backed them in a double €5 e/w. Both horses won. :D

    However I went to the bookies to collect and collected €270 + change. I was expecting a bit more. Does this amount seem correct? I thought it should have been at least over €300?

    anyone clear this up for me?

    Thanks

    no sorry maybe not. it depends on what were the odds for the each way bet. if it was 1/5 then it around 348 but if you go to paddypower.com you'l be able to use the calculator to see how much

    Did you write 7/1 down on the docket, if not you mightn't have got those odds.

    Was there non runners in races that you took 7/1 on your horses?if so there may be Rule 4s that reduce your prices thus your winnings.

    What were the 2 horses please?

    I reckons thats about right. 200 for the win. 66 I think for the each way plus your stake back

    Lets do this line by line how I think they did it
    5 X7= 35+5= 40
    Next line 5x40=200

    Second part each way
    200/3 (was it third of the odds) =66.66
    200+66+5(f0r each way). I make that 271.66
    Was this what they gave you back?

    how it should have been done
    Second line would be 7x40=280

    each way (if its third the the odds)
    5x7=35(/3)= 12 approx
    New stake is 17 euros
    17x7=119
    119/3=39

    So I think what you should have got back was 320 or thereabouts.

    A fiver win double pays €320 on its own. So you should have got more than that.

    5x7=35+ stake back.
    40x7=280
    Are you talking on the double bet without the each way included?

    Just came across this...one of my pet hates:mad:

    The win part of your bet returns €320(including your stake)

    Your each way (at 1/4) returns €37.81 or (at 1/5) €28.80

    Your total return is either €357.81 or €348.80
    (It's possible one of the races paid the ew at 1/5 & the other 1/4..the effect is marginal)

    If there was a Rule 4 then it could explain it...

    Hope you got your money, it's a bloody war against those feckers!!

    What bookie was it?

    If it was one with offices here you shouldn't have any problem, they'll ring the office where you placed the bet, confirm the bet & ask you to write out your docket again.

    That said I thought Cian Healy scored the first try in the game....

    Done it in william Hill, it was the game the week before Cian Healy :) the 13th.

    I've been in there shop in Ballyfermott and they are less than helpful it must be said, I have to post away all sorts of shite and all to get the money. I have 2 mates one is a manager in Paddy Power and an other works in Boyles and they said that its as easy as making a phoinecall, receiving a fax and paying out. I am not happy at all.

    Further more they won't give me a phone number so i've to drive to Ballyfermott to talk to them, only to be told the managers not in. TWICE!!!
