They can stick that as far as I'm concerned, I'd go to jail rather than pay that, I paid a 5 figure sum of stamp duty on my house 3 years ago, I ain't paying again, as for water charges ill only pay it if they guarantee to service my pump and softener as I'm on my own well, they can stick that too

What next a tax on having a sh1te, I'd be crucified if they brought that in with the logs I knock out

This is only expected to raise 160m, there is a lot of other ways to raise 160m like getting people to renew driving licences every year instead of every ten years,

Property tax, me hole....it's just another money making scam (is it only on private sector employees like the pension tax or are they going after everyone this time)

This country is a fooking joke - I know there's civil servants on here but the government needs to look at the MASSIVE pay bill within the civil service and reduce that (not the low paid or front line civil servants) sort out the banks and stop taxing those of us that are already struggling to make ends meet - I'm broke, for fook sake....I HAVE NO MORE MONEY (can't even go to the dentist - cos I have to pay for that now as well)

Michael Noonan made all sorts of pre-election promises regarding people who bought between 06-08, they seem to have disappeared fairly rapid. They now want to tax me to live in an apartment that I paid about 80k in VAT only 3 or 4 years ago:mad:

Yet another unjust tax on the irish people.. to pay for the crimanilty of the greedy bankers and politicians. The government might regret this one.
It will raise €150mil,wonder how much it will cost to collect it?

Is anyone surprised by that decision.FF laid the ground work
and now FG are going to implement it.There has to be a mass boycott on this imo.

Dont think anyone is surprised,as they have been saying that tough measures..and also cuts will be inevitable.
There is a lot more pain to indure. What will they think up of next?
The IMF are now having their say,and This government better do what they say it seems.
    Agree with the mass boycott.

Your missing the point, most people have paid either stamp duty or vat or both on their house now they want to put on more tax, I'm one of the lucky ones that both me and the wife have jobs, but there is plenty of people out there that just won't be able to afford that 2e a week

You could break most taxes down like that and make them look harmless.

The fact is that we have a country full of people who have no money left and are already struggling to pay their mortgages, with homes being repossessed all over the place and so many people already in neagitive equity and shitting themselves.

Now every additional tax and every additional charge that the government introduces is yet another blow to people who simply dont have much/anything left to give.

Maybe you should pay mine for me! Its only 2 quid per week! ;)
