    Guys,

I've decided to give myself a little Hobby and build my own Arcade Machine. Im looking for a little bit of help to start out with.

I need to get my hands on a 21in CRT(old style) computer monitor. Would any of you guys have one knocking around in a shed or know anyone who would?

Using Mame on an old P4 to keep the games playing at the right speed, using a frontend called Maximus Arcade so it doesnt load in a Windows style enviornment. Its really cool actually mate. If you want a copy of the software give me a shout........have it wired up to 2 joysticks and 20 buttons including a 1 and 2 player start button......was playing Kung Fu Master and Ghost and Goblins earlier.....awesome

Thats the exact kit im installing pal, 2 red end joysticks and 22 buttons, its class looking. even putting speakers into it, had to make it a little smaller than a normal arcade machine because of the roof height in my attic but its class.....i have all the plans if anyon wants them, its only worked out around €300 for everything.

    I'm so jealous :(
Need to get me one of these built, I wasn't going to do it as fancy as you have, but now I think I have to, I was going to use an Original Xbox, and a large Hard Drive so I can emulate, MAME, SNES, MegaDrive, DreamCast, PSX, Gameboy and of course play Xbox on it. But I'm liking your set up.

How much did you splash out if you don't mind me asking and where did you source the parts?

I was thinking of creating a Perspex "shell" so I can do a little light show with fans.

This s exactly want you want elvis Maximus Arcade can manage all the emulators at the same time so when you move te joystick left to right it switches emulators (very graphical). Perspex isnt too cheap, i used MDF and the cabinet only cost me €55. You can leave some panels in perspex and put a light behind with a graphic overlay and it would look savage.

The controls / buttons / IPAC controller board can be got as a kit on ebay for €105.

You can make up an old PC for little or nothing, I had an old P4 with 19in LCD.

Im using tempererd glass and thats around €25

Im painting it plain black and the paint was €27

With vents and fans etc it totaled around €220

I have an old PC there, actually a few of them, so I'm well sorted on the machine front. Just the casing, and controls I need to source.

That's now my mission for the evening to suss that out,.

EDIT: Just came up with a new idea, complete gaming arcade, seeing as I have a Wii and a spare 360, I can hook up the lot into one casing, and use an LCD monitor I have, I could case all that off put in some lights, and have my Artist mate paint her. Ooooh, just need to name her now :)
