So how many tolls will there be on m50. If they did work on side roads I wouldnt mind but gardai said on Traffic blues they hit a series of pot holes when they were chasing a guy in Donegal recently.
    Another money racket imo

No objections with the M9 Dublin to Waterford motorway being tolled, crazy decision in the first place not to toll it. Why should it be any different to the other intercity motorways?

What will happen particularly in roads in fingal is people will start to take the back roads which will put further strain on them.

Everybody will move back to secondary roads. There will be more congestion, more accidents, and more deaths.

It's all about money. Without money they can't pay the fat cats their big wages and their massive bonuses, or their memberships to Golf courses. This country is a fcuking joke from top to bottom. I really can't wait to up and leave. I wonder when they will bring out a License to Drink Milk that costs 100 euro a year, or a toaster license, or one to use Jam, or wear shoes. It's only a matter of time, before we will have to take out loans, to support our total taxes on our lifestyles which will go above 100 percent. What happens then?

FFS Seriously? Any idea when they plan to do this?

Lets say they charge what the M50 is €1.80 ( i think ) this will mean if they toll the arklow bypass it will cost me an extra €864 a year just to get to ****ing work? then i have football, visiting friends and family in arklow and surrounding areas, cost could rise to an extra €1500 a year :mad::mad::mad:

And thats not including if they Toll the section of the M50 i use ( between Bray and Leapordstown ) which im sure they will

    Hi

I'm probably going to get slammed for this, but I think this is one of the better options open to the Government ...

Ultimately, the country is skint and owes a shaggin' fortune. Regardless of how it came about and who is to blame, the bottom line is our Government (both past and present) effectively signed up for all of the debts and ensured that we the tax payer would have to pay the lot so thats where we are at and it's clear as night follows day, that Fine Gael won't get us off the hook, no more than Labour, despite their pre-election speaches etc.

So the country has to raise dosh - how do we do it, do we tax school kids shoes, food etc or do we tax other things ?

IMHO, the likes of road tax is fair simply because the people using the motor ways more often, pay more in return for the benifits of using these top quality roads ... I'm a semi-regular user myself and I'm far happier paying a toll each time I use the M50, M1 etc than I'd be paying a tax on food etc.

Just my own view - if we don't like it, we simply leave the country and go live somewhere else I'm afraid ....
