I couldnt find a thread on this.
Along with the royal family being hacked, possibly Prince Charles among them,
Gordon Brown is set to announce he has been a victim. Apparently, there was also an attempt to acces his bank account through his hacked phone.
Nothing official yet, but rumours that the Sunday Times was involved.
Hacing a second paper dragged into this would be a disaster for News ~International.

I reckon Murdoch will step down because of this.
Theres too many people attributing blame on him and saying the attitude and immorality of hacking came from the top down within News Corp.
Hes old, hes made his fortune, and now he needs to restore faith in his buisness.

Have to say the Milly Dowler case really sickens the shit out of me.The fact that they deleated her voice mails and gave the family hope that she was still alive when in actual fact the girl was dead was sick. Also they deleated possible evidence too which could have lead to a arrest much quicker.

I'm not sure if Gordon Brown was PM at the time of this hacking, but if he was then thats the equivilant of treason in my eyes. They're gonna need a bigger jail by the time this finishes up.

i flicked over to newsnight last night and they were talking about this scandal.i didn't catch the whole discussion but from the bit i heared it sounded as if murdoch can just turn up at 10 downing street at any time and go in through the back door for a chat with the PM.i don't know whether that includes blair/brown or if it's just cameron but you'd have to question why someone who is so heavily involved in the media has that much power..

It included all parties, both sides admitted that it was wrong and had to change. Gordon Brown went to Rebecca Brooks wedding even though she plastered his sick kid all over the front of the rag.

I dont think he was PM, I think he was chancellor.
On the subject of treason,NOTW hacked the royals phones and i was sure this would be see as treason, but it hasnt been mentioned.

Just goes to show that nothing is beneath this bunch of lowlifes. The wider issue is that sadly there is an audience within our society which craves sensationalism and scandal providing it does not affect them. It is disturbing that when the original rumours broke regarding this hacking, there was no appropriate investigation, and the NOTW was subsequently allowed to not fully co-operate with the enquiry. The problem is that the print media has too much power, perhaps this will all change now.
If there is anything good to come out of this, it is that while we have been going on for years about not buying or reading The S*n to everyone we can, this adds weight to the campaign, and raises the profile among a generation who are too young to remember the lies of Hillsborough. It is vital that we continue to use every opportunity to maintain the momentum and keep the flame burning. JFT 96.

This has opened another can of worms... police corruption.
Theres already plenty of claims of police accepting bribes, but the question is how far up the ladder did it go?

Anyone find it stange that Beckhams name hasn't appeared? Around 9000 phones and him shagging the nanny, his phone would've been close to the top of any list. Wonder what he's hiding?

    Far..very far.
You have The british PM and top police officers.. wining+dining with News international bosses. Most were all on the take, and those who werent were turning a blind eye to the corruption.
Im amazed the murder of a PI Daniel Morgan (who was found dead in a pub car park in london, with an Axe imbedded in his skull) hasnt been brought up yet.But that case is worth a google, wont put up any links as it mentions the rags in the articles.

I remember that murder when it happened, but i never realised it was to do with police corruption.
Shocking to think how widespread it could be and the length some coppers would go to protect themselves.

Scotland yard.. are under increasing pressure to keep the lid on their part in the hacking scandal. With Neil wallis being arrested today, worked for both the rag and the police.
Also both father and son murdoch..and also rebacca brooks will appear before the culture, media and sport committee on tuesday.
    That should be good.
And now the FBI are investigating them as well over 9/11 hacking claims.
Hope his empire comes crumbling down around him, sooner rather than later.

The americans are getting involved. If there is evidence that there was hacking related to 911 re victime relatives I would think what is happening over this side of atlantic would be least of Murdochs worries.
