Mick Wallace's roadie shirt look starting to grate with some members in dail. I just cant picture him in anything else though http://www.herald.ie/national-news/scruffy-tds-to-get-a-dressing-down-2816518.html
What to wear while the country heads for destitution!Jesus christ. Who cares once they do their job properly?..and stop wasting time on silly issues like..eh..what to wear.
I think that was similar to the response from Richard Boyd-Barrett ... Personally, I think it's reasonable to ask that people were clean clothes and nothing offensive, respect hygine issues but thereafter, I couldn't care less and think it's time that some of the old timers in politics (and elsewhere in life) accept that it's the man who makes the suit & not the suit that makes the man !
Took longer than I expected!! They knew the unwritten news of the dail and have their point made...time to move on.
Ahh..i see, lets get the sheeple of Ireland to start judging the book by its cover..they will surley swallow that one...Sure havent they always In all fairness, its a miniscule issue..that makes the powers that be a laughing stock.
I can see both sides of this argument. A number of years ago when I was working regularly in the Dail I was brought in by a senior guy there and my attention was drawn to the dress code. Those who work there are expected to abide by the dress code when the members are not. We have far too many TD's and Senators and a lot of these guys will never do there job properly as many just push around a load of constituency crap without ever having the ability or talent to focus on the real issues..
MEN IN SUITS ROB BANKS/COUNTRIES/SICK PEOPLE/KIDS Time for FG TO stop being stepford husbands & wifes and start giving a f&ck about my kids futures.
I agree with this. I'd much prefer them to wear jeans and tshirts and do a decent job, than wear suits and spout boll*x.
Could they not do both? Act professional and look it. Its not a huge ask. And correct me if I am wrong but the 2 main culprits that I can see, I havent heard them giving one good idea on economic policy. They seem to have got elected by been seen to 'make a stand' and that's what they are doing with this dress code issue.
It Cant be too hard for them to dress decently , all they have to do is put it down to expenses . Either way we end up paying through the nose for the gits.
Apparently not If they can do a good job and dress smart then fair play to them, but imo, dress code is simply not an important issue (within reason)
So you are either a suited fat cat closing down hospitals for giggles, paying your servants with bailout money and kicking puppies or you are a tweed wearing freedom fighter of (in the best Joan Burton impression) 'the people', standing up to the oppressive Dail, and at weekends try to form a new captain planet team. But you are right, substance over style.
Mate, while I've no problem with you wanting to prioritise what the politicans we elect and pay do, and how they do it (hence I removed that part of your post, in my quote above), you don't have to wear a suit to rob a bank, country or a person etc.... You'll have read my post above already, so know we share the same view on the importance of what our politicans wear, give or take, however, I and many otheres wear a suit to work, that doesn't make us all bad either if you take the point
To be fair I think most of the independents dress well enough. But Micko the pink needs to mix his wardrope up a bit.
