Disaster if it happens, the one player which I really wanted to see us buying. Fully adapted to the PL and kept West ham up on his own. Love watching him play.

Heard they're paying 4m to have him on loan for a year with an option to buy then

What's thge big deal? Let them have him. I'm not worried about them getting him. As I said in another thread, if start the season strong for a change we won't need to worry about anybody else.

Basic fact is if they get him it's another very good young player with another type of attacking quality they can use- It's bad news if he goes to the scum- bad news indeed. But we have our own positives to think about- lets hope Rafa is backed for 2 quality wingers and Heinze/ other defender.
Can't belive its just a few weeks to a brand new season!!!!

I think we can be much more competitive next season. Torres is a huge addition...I used buy him for every team I ever managed on CL and LMA (when I could afford him).

Back to reality, we will be more competitive but there is a lot of ground to make up. I think Tevez will be a great signing, but we have made arguably a better one. We have central midfielders they would kill for.

I say let them get tevez and anyone else..

Bring it on

TEVEZ PLAYS DOWN UNITED MOVE
Carlos Tevez has played down reports suggesting he is close to joining Manchester United.

The West Ham forward, who is currently in Venezuela with Argentina for the Copa America campaign, has been linked to several clubs in England and abroad but is keen to remain in the Premier League.

"As far as I am aware, I have not received any official offers," Tevez told Argentina national newspaper Clarin.

"Once an offer arrives then we will see. But the fact that Real Madrid, Internazionale and Manchester United are interested in me makes me proud."

Tevez was instrumental in keeping the Hammers in the Premier League last season and admits he would not be disappointed if he was to remain at Upton Park for a second straight campaign.

"If I have to stay at West Ham, it would be fine," he said. "I am happy there and people love me very much."

The 23-year-old admits he is no hurry to make a decision and his main aim right now is to help Argentina go for glory at the Copa America.

"Right now my focus is here (with national team)," said Tevez. "I think it's the best thing for my team. Once this is over, we shall see."

This is from Sportinglife. It would be bad for us if Tevez joins Man Utd this summer, but only way I can see it possible is loan. They have already spent over 50 million pounds on new players and I don't think Glazer will be making any more funds available to Ferguson because of the huge debt.

Is there room for 2 pug ugly fat little feckers on the same team?:p . not too worried myself, serious lack of height with those two up front. Tevez is a very good player, But I dont think he is as good as the papers make him out to be.

Looks like league might block it anyway

Hi

I've seen one or two articles again mention a possible loan spell at Manc, so why don't we do a deal and get him on loan ?

...Given the suggestion that Bellemy is going to West Ham, surely we can cut a deal here ?

Whats more, it really would be mud in the Manc's eyes if we snacthed him from under their noses now it's in the papers etc :D

You know, the more I think about this, the more I think that we realy could do with someone who comes off the front and creates. Do people think kuyt or Toores will do that. Gerrard is our only option at the moment. For me Tevez is like the argentinian equivalent of Rooney, and the mancs already have that. I'm not sure he will add as much to them as a target man.

You might be on to something with the Bellamy angle. Tevez could be useful to us.

You might think it is an opportunity missed but in regards to money where would it be going certainly not to west ham who don't hold his contract so basically the transfer to anybody would surely would be illegal???

True i think in that case it seems West Ham do own him not to sure but otherwise the loan deal wouldn't have went through. The publicity over Tevez and case the Sheff Utd are bringing is probably why the issue is been highlighted more in this case

I agree with megager...too similar to Rooney and they still lack height up front...smells like another panic buy by Fergie so the rest of the big teams can't have him

The way I feel about all these UTD buys is similar to the year they apparently had the best midfield in the world with Giggs,Scholes,Keane & Veron...everyone thought it would be unstoppable but look what happened..the new Argie upset the balance

I felt that way about Chelsea last year, not as convinced about man u yet though.

They seem to be spending a lot of money on attacking options and not really where it needs strengthtening and seem to be neglecting defence.

TBH I think the only decent defender they have is Wes Brown and Vidic. Evra is too attack minded, Heinze could be off, Neville is getting old and Rio, well what can you say about Rio?

Even getting Tevez really only means they will have 2 decent strikers, both of which are similar and probably won't play that much together up front.

Hope he stinks too. Fair enough they've gone for the attacking signings all summer, if they lose Heinze and don't sign any defensive options I think they'll suffer big time if they get one or two defensive injuries.

Earlier in the summer i was freaked that they were getting him, but now im not that bothered. They can only play so many forwards in one game , and like chelsea last season, and themselves the season they signed veron & rvn, it doesnt always pan out the way they thought it would.
