Just wondering if anyone could help?

I have a Nokia Music Express 5530. It does the job for me, wifi, touchscreen etc but it went kaput today.

I noticed it was a bit slow going into my messages and when I went to go to my photo's it kinda stalled. It Bounced back but later that day I received a text message and as I was opening it my phone also rang. The phone kinda froze and it wouldn't allow me answer or do anything. I took out the battey and presumed it would bounce back after a re start but I can't get it back on. The battery is new and it wasn't low so it can't be that. The screen starts to light up for a second but then doesn't respond.

I've tried charging it, hooking it up to my laptop via usb but nothing. It seems like i've to re instal the firmware on the phone or something but I can't get it on. Any idea's? I can always go to the nokia shop beside where I work but he'll prob charge me.

    Has anyone ever experienced this?

You might need to reset it. Look up hard reset online as I forget how to do it. Think it's power button plus red and green button but I'm not sure. I think it might wipe everything from the phone so I hope you have it backed up.

I could download the apps again but i'm not sure if I have all photos and vids backed up.

Could I not just take out of memory card before I do it?

Nokia shop may be the best bet,. But if everything you need is on the memory card, then I'd attempt the reset, and see if it works, if not I'd try the nokia shop.

Nokia phones tend to wig out when they have too many Text messages saved, so that may have caused the issue. Reset should sort it out.

If you look up soft reset it should keep you files but I think the phone might have to be on to be able to do it I'm not sure

I took out the memory card and messed about with it and got back it on. After a while it freezes again so i'll back up my contacts on ovi and do a soft reset.

It freezes everytime I use the memory card. There must be something on that bugging it. Thanks

would the memory card be corrupt? If you have a spare one try using that first maybe?

It may be corrupt also, have a check with another if you can (if deleting stuff doesn't work)

Instead of starting a new thread I'll throw the problem in here.

On the way to Spain , the missus put her phone in her carry on bag and she put it in the over head compartment. There was alot or arsing around with bags and when she went to get her phone when we got off the plane he screen had been smashed.

She got the phone in the carphonewarehouse an had insurance on it. Will the insurance cover her and get her a new phone?

Ron it will will depend on the level of cover but I would imagine they will either repair it or replace it.

I think she pays about 4 euro a month for it. I'd imagine she would just be happy getting it repaired. Cheers anyway for the quick response.

Update: Had the majority of my stuff backed up so I re formated the memory card and phone back working smoothly. however I lost all my apps (which I expected) but when I go back into ovi.com it tells me since I already have them downloaded i cant download them again. I have no option to download. Any idea's what I should do here. Should I delete that ovi account and open new one?

It might be easier to say she lost the phone, if her insurance covers it. Otherwise she could be without a phone while they fix it.

Went into the carephone ware house on sunday when we got back. She had her insurance policy and i read it too so to know what to expect when we got there. The Girl was very nice behind the counter, and we just said it was dropped. She said it would be sent away to get fixed, but it needed to be approved first, but normally they are approved.Said the excess would be 15 euro which wasnt too bad. So that was grand, we left it with her and were just about to go home when we got a phone call to go back to the shop.

They had approved the fixing off the phone, but instead they were giving her a brand new phone, as it wasnt worth fixing really. So she got a new samsung pink thing and delighted with it.Happy days all around. :D

If you log into your account and go to each app individualy you should be able to text them to your phone.only 5 texts can be sent in 24 hours.
