Looks like he's second choice to Jones, i'll glady take him.

I know not as glamourous as Jones or who i'm gutted we missed out on but still think very good CB.

    Mixed feeling on this

Just feel we could go for Cahill if we were going to offer £16m fir jones as cahill has a £17m buy out clause

I'm of the opinion we could survive another year with the centre backs we have. If an outstanding player becomes available then pounce, but sloppy seconds are unnecessary. Better attacking players will mean less work for the boys at the back anyway;)

My first choice now that Jones is gone to the mancs. although i preferred him over Jones anyway. He's scouse and an ex season ticket holder and could be got at a steal.. Direct replacement for Carra.

    Go get Comolli.

Yes have to agree better to get a player that actually wants to come to us and play and not for the wages....

Very good player, would have preferred jones but that's not to be. Would be happy with danns or Cahill, either one and I'd be happy.

Not to sure on him to be honest, is he really any better than Skrtel would be for us? And we need to improve on Skrtel for example.

What about the fact he seems to get an injury each season to keep him out for a bit.

In all competitions including subbing he has totaled each of the last 3 seasons:

    10/11 - 25
    09/10 - 35
    08/09 - 35

I think Cahill is quality too, not really linked with him latley though, wonder are we interested?

As Rocco said if we were going to offer £16m for Jones then why not Cahill?

I don't think we could. Kyrgiakos is 31, Carra is 33, Agger will miss half the season with injury and Skrtel is good but prone to mistakes. We really need a new CB.

I do agree with you that we shouldn't make signings out of desperation and if Dann is signed, I hope it's for the right reasons.

Why isnt the option of Kelly being moved to CB considered in all of this?

Considering we were willing to spend 16mill if the rumours are true on 19 year old.

I think its a bad move for Jones going to United anyway and would rather Dann due to experience and from what I hear LFC mad.

    My thoughts exactly.

I think that Kenny could go with a 3-5-2 formation a lot next season especially against the bottom half teams, even more so at Anfield.
He played like this when he first took over and we looked comfortable with it. We won at Chelsea with it.

We then have Agger, Skrertel Carra and Kelly and maybe one more to be brought in to fill these central positions.
We have Johnson to play as a wing back which would suit him and we need a left back (LWB) to be signed.

Lucas will hold in midfield and Gerrard/Henderson/ Raul/Adam? playing a little further on.

Skysports.com understands Liverpool could train their sights on Scott Dann having seemingly lost out in their attempts to land Phil Jones. Arsenal are also thought to be in the running but as a lifelong Liverpool fan the sway of Anfield could work in Dalglish's favour.

I think dann is a good defender but it's all about adaptability and he looked shaky at times when Birmingham had injuries. We need a good no nonsense and commanding centre back but we need a left back first and foremost.

Are you getting him confused with Johnson? it was Dann who was injured and they fell apart at the back without him.

i think so too, and if United do get Jones then i doubt they'll match the fee for him under their first option clause as they probably wont have the money
