Mental stuff! ****** Arrests made on match-fixing charges in Italy Wednesday, 1 June 2011 13:38 Sixteen people have been arrested for alleged involvement in match-fixing in Italy. The police operation was based in Cremona, with arrests taking place across more than 10 cities. Former Lazio captain Giuseppe Signori was reportedly among those arrested, along with lower-league players, club executives and betting operators. 'Do you not have mercy in this situation? Have mercy. I cannot say anything, I will meet my attorney and then he will speak for me,' ex-Italy striker Signori told Corriere dello Sport by telephone before going to police headquarters for questioning in Bologna. The police investigation began last November after a Serie C match between Cremonese and Paganese. Cremonese players allegedly had their drinks spiked to prevent them from playing well. Speaking at a press conference at the city's police headquarters, Cremona public prosecutor Roberto Di Martino said: 'It is understood that a substance was mixed with water, a tranquilliser, that the Cremonese players drank during the game or before.'
Italien football is corupt as fuxk, didnt juve loose the league a few seasons ago on evidence that they where involved in match fixing?.
They have been down this road before with teams getting points taken off them or even relegated they wore than FIFA corrupt as fcuk
Could start with all of those 1/2 priced draws in the last few games of every season, worst league in europe for it alongside bulgaria and the likes.
Absolutely shocked and appalled with this. My family are from the Lazio region in Italy and he was a childhood hero of mine watching Italian football growing up. Hope there is nothing in this, he always played with his heart on his sleeve for Lazio and Bologna that's for sure. Italian league is gone to fcuk though, too much corruption and nobody really wants to clean up the game. The match fixing draws couldn't be more blatant towards the end of the season. Sad to see it fall from grace, used to love James Richardson and his coffee and ice cream on Gazzetta on a sat morning and sun afternoon "Arriva derchi".
Doesnt match fixing go back to the early 80s in Italy? I remember Paolo Rossi being suspended for involvement.
