i had one like that and it only worked after i reset the ipod back to factory default and then updated the s/w. that will will wipe the ipod and all the data so back up anything you want off it.

If thats a first generation IPod then I'm starting i've the same. Works grand with itunes but lately the internet isnt working right, for hotmail and twitter i get a message about 'invalid certificate' and the page wont load on those sites. I'd say the software is too old at this stage which is a shame as it works fine other than that

Ran the diagnostic tool and it found a problem and 2nd time it passed , then in the help menu it has just let me update the software to 1.1.5. saying that is the latest.

Has just let me name the ipod and is downloading all Music and photos.

Wondering now is there anyway of getting it to accept APPS ?

Can download apps and working just like my iPhone but without the phone function..

    i used this site

    http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f109/jailbreak-my-ipod-touch-1st-gen-182350/

Got it up to 3.1.3 , but didn't bother with the jailbreak ....

    Another site
    http://forums.ilounge.com/ipod-touch/269493-ipod-touch-1st-gen-help.html

Basically register with both sites and post your question your just have a look around as maybe posted already

I have an 8GB Ipod with the screen smashed on the front. It has happened twice before and I paid around 80 to get it fixed. Does anyone know if it should be this expensive?

My IPod touch has gone on the blink since last night. He won't unlock at all. I think the touch screen on it could be gone . I have tried the whole , hold the home button and power button but it just restores it and it still doesn't work.

Does anyone on here fix IPods or suggest to me what I can do.

There's a place in the ilac centre the entrance from Moore street it's in the middle of the floor not one of the shops that's fixs iPods iPhones and I think laptops

Fixs quite cheaply , had daughters itouch 4 screen replaced for €40 plus a case

There actually 2 of them , one with a roof and one a bit up with no roof .

They fix them and you collect in about 1/2 hours

Tried the restore option but no joy. Raging as it's a 64 gig one which was quiet expensive .

Any techie Heads on here ever replace a Mother Board in a Ipod touch 3rd Gen?

Ive had it into two Shops and its isn't a screen problem as there has been a new screen put in. There isn't water damage either or it has never been dropped. Basically the touch function on it isn't working any longer. Its a 64 gig Ipod touch too, so i don't really want to lose it or disregard it. I really want to get it fixed, so if any one on here can Help please PM me.

hold both the power button and home button simultaneously until the unit powers down

    Ignore ;)

But take it you held it for longer than normal

To be honest mate I wouldnt recommend replacing the board yourself , even with the right tools and a good hair dryer , it's a very tricky job .But a lot handier than the newer models.

The shops that repair them usually sell the tool repair kits
Videos are for 3GS iPhone but give you a good idea of the process

Those 8 screws are different lengths so put back in proper order , hair dryer is needed if screen not coming loose and always take screen off from the bottom
