Am sure people have posted this in different formats over the years. Am with UPC for years, but sick of them and their crap packages, so am thinking about going to Sky. Was planning on upgrading to the Digital Extra with UPC so I could get a couple of extra music channels, as only 3 euro difference in the price to what I am currently paying, I asked in advance with the Customer service guy could I get all of the channels that were listed on the website and he said I could, but hey what a surprise that wasn't the case, couldn't get any extra music channels, so asked to go back to original package. Sky seem to have a better package and channels. Am paying nearly 100e a month with Digital, Sports and Broadband with UPC, and it dosen't appear to be goodvalue for money, will be cancelling Sports when season ends and just sign up with livefooty.com. So am just wondering with anybody that has Sky would they recommend them, any issues with them, people that I spoke with all seem to recommend Sky, cheers.
Can't comment on sky's service cos I've never been with them but if you were to switch over to them you'd have to get your internet elsewhere. I honestly can't fault upc's internet service since I signed up to it,It's very good.
I switched from UPC to Sky a couple of years ago but kept their broadband.I have never had any problems with it anyway.
Try living in the ass hole of nowhere like me and get decent broadband, have to hope neighbourhood googlers log off early & neighbourhood pervs whip off late. first three rounds of the fight were a series of stills, as were the last two, everything in between were fluent & crystal clear
I agree with the internet comments, never been any issue with it, wouldn't leave them if I couldn't keep Broadband, cheers for opinions.
Hi, If this is a straight comparison between UPC or Sky for TV, then it's Sky without question - better picture, sound, selection of channels, programme guide & features (Sky plus / HD etc) However: - As Willie points out above, UPC are definitely worth considering for their internet service. One of my mates has their broadband and it seems to be first class. - Sky gets expensive very quickly, if you start adding on stuff like movies, sports, HD, additional receivers in different rooms etc I'm currently in the process of getting both Saorview & Free to Air Satellite TV on Astra (Sky Satellites) - this is just one of many suppliers. If I find in a few months time that they give me just about all I want for TV purposes, then I won't be paying Sky TV for their service anymore & just continue to get my Internet service independently. There's online footie options mentioned elsewhere on this website, which give you all the matches for a far cheaper price than Sky ever will. Granted, you need to keep in mind that there's an initial spend of around €250 to get the kit installed for this option, but afterwards there is no monthly subscriptions, just the tv licence fee you'd be paying anyway.
Sky is far better IMO.Better equipment, better channels and better service.Would never think of changing to chorus personally.
slightly off topic and bit of a silly question but would u get the boxing pay per view fights on livefootyonline.com?
If you can get UPC broadband I'd go with UPC. I have worked with them and had all services for free and then paid when I left and never had any issueds with it. There prices are great aswell for tv and bb. I have sky and had to get eircom brodband and it costs way more than upc.
Lads, The brother dropped off a 2nd hand Sky HD box at the weekend. Replaced the original one which is an old sky box but not getting the live pause etc service and the sports channels are not coming through either. I've connected up correctly after double checking but it just says contact local service provider every time I press any of the sky+ buttons or trying the sports channels. Didnt know you had to in order to get the sky+ service or is there a way of avoiding that? Not that I've anything to hide!
It you want a sub standard tv service sign up for UPC If you want the best service available sign up for sky
