My laptop won't pick up wi fi. No idea why like. Something blocking it like. Would it be that firewall??

What does firewall do like .. I'm afraid to press anything in case I get a virus..

By the way, I'm not exactly up on computers like. Turn it on, go on the internet, write an essay, turn it off. That's the extent of my knowledge so if anybody can giz a bit of info or help I'd really appreciate it. Ta :)

A firewall can stop certain things from accessing the internet, and also stop things from accessing your pc, you can set exceptions to this. You may have turned it on to "strict" which wont allow any connections to or from the internet, you may have also accidentally pressed the wifi switch off. You could try turn it back on, there is a little PC icon in the bottom right of your screen "right click" that and select enable wifi/radio whichever it says. Also if you click the arrow beside those icons, you will see a little "shield" either red/yellow/green, right click that and open security centre, from here you can check your firewall so click that and see what it says,. Sorry my instructions are bad, I'm in bed but said I had to help,.
