http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/13/fa-charge-sir-alex-ferguson Sir Alex Ferguson has been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association for comments made about referee Howard Webb in the build-up to the Premier League game with Chelsea at Old Trafford on 8 May. Although the comments themselves were innocuous, including a statement that he believed Webb to be the "best man for the job", they contravened FA Rule E3. Ferguson had said: "We are getting the best referee, there is no doubt about that. But (getting a bad decision) is definitely our big fear. "We have the players to do it all right. We just hope it's our turn for a little bit of luck." The problem for the Manchester United manager is that they were delivered on May 6, two days prior to the game. That contravenes the rule which now states no manager should speak about a referee in advance of the match being played. As the United manager has just served a five-match touchline ban following comments made about Martin Atkinson in the wake of his side's Premier League defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on March 1, there is some concern at Old Trafford about the likely punishment. However, in this instance, it does appear unlikely a suspension will be imposed. Ferguson has until 4pm on May 16 to respond.
Until Rednose retires the whole 'Respect' campaign will never have any credibility when the fa have a manger that is a law unto himself.
[/I] this is more inept b*llsh*t from the FA ....However, in this instance, it does appear unlikely a suspension will be imposed.... WHY THE FCUK NOT !???? Because he's slur 'hitler' alex Lord & ruler of the FA Premier league! am sick to my stomach of this pcrik & his cronies .... The club should be getting points deductions at this stage... The week before these comments, after the arsenl game, he had the audasity to go on about how every ref in the league is against them !!!!!!!!!!!
Ah come on mate that's totally unfair. He doesn't deserve that, or that sort of comparison. Hitler wa just misunderstood.
Keep hitting him with bans and fines until he realises he just has to shut his red whisky faced slurring barely intelligible trap.
shur what sort of punishment is been banned to the stand!?? For one, he has a better view of the game & a £30k fine to a multi-millionaire!? > it's like Euro3 to me or you! Points deductions is the only way to 'try' & teach that cnut! Either that or ban him from the ground & making any comms with the bench & a £100-£300K fine- that'd stop him spouting off & influencing refs Lets start a petition to the EPL FA, for scum to get an 8 point deduction immediately!
I think Lawro said on MOTD that if a ref sends off a manger his suspension shouldn't be to sit in the stands which means nothing it should be that they are banned from the ground full stop.
Is there any point starting a new thread every few weeks when this c.unt steps out of line with his comments. All the FA ever do is lip service, make it look like they are doing something. Crappy fine and a comfy seat in the stands with a better view, phone and access to the dressing room before, during and after the game. How is that punishment? Wanke,r
lads ill be honest, i hate the cnut as much as the next man, but he didnt even do anything wrong this time like
If you look at the amount of times he has bitched about things like this. How many has he been punished for over the years? And how many times has it swung him an advantage? And even when he does get "punished" you'll find the gain out-weighs the loss. He's right to do it. Its good management.
Man United boss Ferguson escapes with warning after FA charge over ref comment Read Sir Alex Ferguson has been warned over his future conduct by the FA after his comments about Howard Webb ahead of the title decider against Chelsea earlier this month. The Manchester United manager was charged with improper conduct but escapes with a warning rather than a fine. A statement from the regulatory commission after the hearing read: 'This rule was brought in at the start of the 2009/10 season and this was reiterated formally to all clubs again on 21 October 2010. 'This is a clear breach of the rule and it is the first time such a matter has been placed in front of a commission. 'As a result of this charge the commission were aware of other occasions where pre-match comments were made by other managers. 'In this case, it was considered to be a minor breach, but a breach nevertheless, and it should be taken as a warning to all managers in the future that any such breach, even positive comments, are likely to result in a charge by The FA.' Ferguson displayed his growing contempt for the FA by refusing even to respond properly to the charge. He was given until 4pm on Monday to tell the FA whether he wished to contest a charge levelled at him last Friday for the comments. It is thought Ferguson is so incensed by it that United just sent a letter to the FA saying he would not be responding. Ferguson became the first manager to be charged by the FA for comments made about a referee in the run-up to a Barclays Premier League game. The Scot said his 'big fear' was that a mistake by Webb would influence the outcome of the match. The United boss - a fan of Webb - did also say the World Cup referee was the 'best man for the job' and the official went on to have an uneventful game as United moved to within a point of the title by winning 2-1. However, the FA decided Ferguson was in breach of guidelines saying managers should not speak about officials in advance of a game. Ferguson found unlikely allies in Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti and Arsene Wenger at Arsenal with both coming out in support of the United chief. Ferguson received a five-match touchline ban for comments made about Martin Atkinson at Stamford Bridge earlier this season. All these Bans and fines, are worth sweet fcuk all as it is not stopping him from making these comments. He is a millionaire so a couple of grand isnt going to make a difference to him. There is telephones nows in the dugout and in the stand, so these touchline bans mean jack shit too. Hit him where it hurts the most, POINTS.. I cant see it every happening, but in order to stop all this rubbish i think this is the only way forward. Also im not just saying this because its him, But i think it should apply throughout football.
