It'll be interesting to see what kinda team he puts out in this one. Wouldn't mind seeing a half decent team put out for this one and getting over yesterday in style.
I know I am been a doom and gloom merchant but I could see a whopping here. Chelsea will likely play a very strong team while Rafa will likely use the depth in the squad. Sissoko, Vorinin etc.....
A balance to be found between a cup that doesn't matter and confidence that needs a bit of stroking, not too mention a difficult match against Portsmouth at the weekend. If it we're me I'd send out the under 12's.
We know a definite starter anyway with Alonso. Crouch and Kuyt will probably start also. With Jack Hobbs starting also.
Dont really care about this cup to be honest, id say give the youngesters a chance against chelski. I saw the arsenal game last night, and they were awesome and they play just like the first team, pass after pass after pass. Anyway, give the lads that got threw the earlier rounds the chance, maybe crouch up front though to give a bit height advantage from set plays.
looking forward to seeing the youngsters and the return of the might alonso. PASS AND MOVE PASS AND MOVE THATS THE LIVERPOOL GROOVE
Could be a very tough but exiciting match...Heard that Lampard is too play so looks like a strong team hes sending out. Im guessing this team for Rafa: ----------------Reina ---Arbeloa---Sami---Hobbs---Aurelio ---Babel--Leiva--Sissoko/Alonso-kewell ----------Crouch------Voronin Rather see Kuyt giving a few more chances though.
alonso, the influential midfielder, who hasn't featured since the end of October, lines up alongside Lucas and Momo Sissoko in the middle of the park. Ryan Babel, Andriy Voronin and Peter Crouch make up a three-pronged attack. The Liverpool team in full is: Itandje, Arbeloa, Aurelio, Hobbs, Carragher, Alonso, Lucas, Sissoko, Babel, Voronin, Crouch. Subs: Martin, Hyypia, Riise, El Zhar, Benayoun.
I agree about this being a Mickey Mouse Cup. It can only lead to an even bigger logjam of fixtures come Feb/Mar time. We are already a game behind in the League. Another 3 fixtures (if we got to the final) would be more of a hindrance considering the actual value in winning the competition.
looks like sky has caught the RTE bug, they wrote Liverpool off completely before the game and platt is slobbering rubbish about Lampards being by far the clearest chnce of the game when in truth we presented it to them and created just as clear as chance with Lucas. Then Jeff stelling also slobbers "goaless but what did you expect " ......when he fucking wrote liverpool off from the start. Unbelievable. I think we are doing very well
Didn't expect Chelsea to field so many first teamers, they must be worried that's the only thing they're going to win this year. Would like to see Babel through the middle in the second half.
Our passing is a lot better tonight then it has been for a little while just show you the value of Alonso back in the midfield and how much we missed him.
