Yeah from little bit of the game i watched last night he seemed to have a stormer. Think i read Arsenal had an interest in him.
Yeah and look at the money it took to cut his ties with Newcastle, Blackburn would be looking for big money for Jones as well(not 35m of course), he's there most sellable asset by a mile
True. I guess it's up to the club to set a limit on what they believe to be value for money. I think he has serious potential though. Seems to have real drive and determination
He's a good player, but is he what we should be looking at? I'd need to see alot more of him to make my mind up.
Kenny Dalglish is ready to slug it out with Sir Alex Ferguson in a £15million scrap over Blackburn star Phil Jones. The Liverpool boss and his director of *football Damien Comolli saw the England Under-21 centre back against Manchester City at Ewood Park on Monday night. Dalglish is a huge fan of the highly-rated 19-year-old defender. But he will have to show the same *financial daring that saw him land Andy Carroll in January for a British record fee – given the rival interest in one of the hottest properties in the Premier League. Manchester United boss Ferguson asked about Jones last summer, and indicated he will make a serious bid at the end of this season. Fergie has identified Jones as a long-term successor to Rio Ferdinand, given his partnership with United defender Chris Smalling for England Under-21s. Arsenal and Chelsea are also interested, which will raise the price, as will the fact Jones signed a new five-year contract a month ago, but that won’t deter Dalglish. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-News-Liverpool-and-Manchester-United-will-battle-for-Blackburn-s-Phil-Jones-article728300.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
This kid will be on the move in the summer but to who. He has bags of talent for his years and is well worth a pungt. Unfortunately you'll have to pay big bucks for him and it would probably be somewhere between £10m and £15m. By the time you opted for Oxled-Chamberlain, Wickham and Jones you be counting loose change from £35m. Is it worth paying out that much on potential?
Starting to wonder if the tabloids/rumour mills are trawling on here for their next big story, we start about Phil Jones yesterday and now its on all the papers today, last week I stuck my wish list in the "7 players needed" including a total "only in Championship manager" wish of Phillip Lahm, and lo and behold, I read on 3 different sites 2 days ago we're looking at him. I'm telling ye, we should be getting commission on here.
Pah sure this thread only started after I Mentioned him in the "Left-Back" thread, so the mirror are even getting their info 3rd hand! Awful transfer piece of shite rag.
