I wonder if its to be an assitant manager for a couple of years and then take over from the king . I have said since the king returned that I would love to see us get in someone he can take under his wing for a few years to blood them in .

    If dreams came true,.

Cant see Vilas Boas doing that, considering he has CL football with Porto next season, and could probably get himself a few jobs out there, the Roma, Juve and Inter jobs will be up for grabs, a couple in Germany, a few in Spain, and a few in England that would be get able, unless he was coming in and Kenny was staying on as his assistant/advisor or something, still think the King should be the manager for the next 2-3 years at least,.

Great attempt by Gabriel Marcotti to put this story into context on Twitter
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Plenty asking about Gazzetta dello Sport line about Villas Boas + pre-contract with Liverpool. Will do my best to sort through it.

Gazzetta reported Villas Boas/LFC in context of story about Roma's future. Said Baldini went to see Villas Boas and talked abt Roma job...

According to Gazzetta, Villas Boas interested initially, then said had pre-contract agreement with LFC. Couple of things to bear in mind...

    1. Baldini still works for the English FA, not Roma. And new owners have not yet taken over club. So if I was Villas Boas, I'd keep cards...

...close to chest, wouldn't go so far as to tell Baldini I've committed to LFC. 2. According to story, VB told Baldini that Mourinho had...

...told VB that "he wasn't ready for Italy". Could be VB's way of politely turning down Roma. Could be untrue. Doesn't sound like...

...something VB wd use as an excuse. He's keen to show he's his own man, wouldn't hide behind JM's opinion (based on what I've been told...

...by those who know VB). 3. Some of the other stuff in the story- which is mostly speculative -is patently untrue from what I've been told.

Doesn't mean VB line is wrong, of course, but does suggest source may have told journo stuff to serve his purposes. 4. Story also damaging..

to Baldini. After all, basically says he's working for Roma or Tom Di Benedetto when, officially, he's not (or isnt' supposed to). This...

...suggests to me source of story might be somebody trying to depict Baldini in a bad light. And if meeting was between Baldini + VB, how...

...wd source know what was said? That said, IMO, VB wd be progressive, smart choice for LFC when Dalglish goes.

Sorry previous tweets have been speculative, just trying to piece together what I know. Third-party quotes always tricky.

Also, VB on record saying he'll stay w/Porto another yr. Not sure it's in his interest 2 make leap now. Cd be LFC sounded him out 4 future

    Cheers for that Lionel,

That last part would be nice, if true, keeps everyone happy, we get Kenny for another year or 2 and we get first refusal on Vilas Boas.

Aware of all Villas Boas to LFC rumours. Nothing in them tho. No agreement of any sort exists.

One thing i have learned over the last 18 months never ever believe anything on Sky Sports :)

these talks were started three weeks ago apparently and i bet ya SSN had it as breaking news

Would love to see the ideal sencario VB come in for a year or two to learn the Liverpool way from Kenny then take over

If we have any agreement with Villa-Boas, my guess would be that it is a first refusal option, he has already said that he wants to stay at Porto for another year.

Porto's league record this year, played 26, Won 24 Drew 2 Lost 0.

Personally speaking, I'd be f**king fuming if Kenny is not given the chance, would not be impressed whatsoever.

    Agree 100%

Unless Kenny comes out and says publically that he doesn't want the job, then he's gotta get it.

Obviously, he needs a decent squad around him before we can really compete however, there's only so much he can do without the resources to take on the competitors for Premiership & CL.

When you see the affection he has for the individual players (like the few words in Carroll's ear when he came off), the sense of humor, its all been said before, the man bleeds LFC, can you imagine the pride you would feel if Kenny lead us to number 19, Jesus, I'm getting emotional just thinking about it.

Liverpool Agree Deal With FC Porto Boss Andre Villa-Boas as New Manager for Next Seas

a load of bull, i'm sure....anyone know much about him?

    CAUGHTOFFSIDE.com

FC Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas has agreed to become the new Liverpool manager next season.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports the 33-year-old rejected a move to Roma because he has already signed a pre-contract with the Anfield club.

The Portuguese is regarded as the hottest prospect in football management and has been labelled the ‘next Jose Mourinho’.

Villas-Boas worked under the ‘Special One’ at Chelsea but the pair fell out over the differing views on style of play.

He has just won the Portuguese first division title, breaking many of Mourinho’s records at the club.

Mourinho’s right-hand man at Chelsea, Steve Clarke, is already the number two at Liverpool and is known to be an admirer of Villas-Boas.

Many clubs have been after the Porto boss with Inter Milan and Roma said to be at the head of the queue.

Reports suggest Villas-Boas met Franco Baldini, who has strong ties with Roma, and told him he could not take charge at the Stadio Olimpico because he already had a pre-agreement with Liverpool.

Mourinho has also told Villas-Boas it is too early in his career to move to Italy and that going to the Premier League would be more beneficial.

This story was going around last weekend, I don't think there's any thing in it.
Kenny has to get the job now or the fans would hit the roof

I'd be very very suprised if it is true lad, would be an insanely unpopular decision by FSG if Villa-Boas comes in during the summer. Nothing against the lad, looks like he is going to be an incredible manager, by Kenny deserves his chance.
