Not sure if Martin Samuel's final entry in today's Daily Mail column will be deemed suitable for the Irish edition
Really poor journalism if you ask me. First of all, the way he uses the term 'slip' when revealing what Trimble said. Its hardly a big secret that we love getting one over on them, and the way he describes it makes it sound like its some secret mission we were on. Then he mentions us singing a few songs (SHOCK HORROR sports fans in rivalry banter) and then he makes it personal, attacking us on a completely different level. Talk about taking things out of context and whatever happened to journalists being neutral?
I remember reading Trimble saying there is a real hatred and thought that was very strong if the english read that. But to react like this and throw this out - ****ing hell, thats absolute madness! Surely wont be printed here! What a c0ck.
And as Ken Early tweeted, I don't think Trimble is your stereotypical Fenian!! Perhaps the history he speaks of is rugby history Martin, ever think of that? Gobshite
That rag has some far right journalists working for them, and samuel is one them..another is richard littlejohn who used to write for the other rag. Wouldnt expect anything other than Verbal Diarrhea from that paper.
Also, recent history of your rugby team and currenct manager isnt exactly that great either with regard to Ireland and your lack of respect. Johnson made our president walk on the grass cause he took her red carpet like the ignorant english bollix he is.
Sorry but I burst me sh1te laughin out loud when I read this bit. Never heard about that. Blatant fishing jourmanlism that, looking for attention and a rise out of us, pay no heed.
He writes for the Mirror and is sometimes on that Jimmy Hill sports supplement – he is the type of fooker that calls John Terry JT. I wouldn’t worry bout him. Dope
If he thinks last Saturday was bad wait till the Welsh beat England in the qualifier this Saturday, there'll be a bit of hatred there too..
Beneath the childish insults in the article, you can detect a guy who was bitterly hurt by the result and probably a guy when the banter was flying in the bar who hadn't the b*lls to offer a defence.Twat!
Not surprised at all by this. It's not the 1st time the fail has demonstrated its anti Irishness views.About 5 years ago after Tyrone won the Sam Maguire they were invited by Celtic to parade the Cup around Celtic Park before a game with Dundee United. The fail accused Celtic of parading a trophy named after an IRA man and linked it with sectarianism. It caused fury amongst the GAA at the time. The story was kept out of the Irish edition and I expect this story will be to. As for Samuel he really is a self-righteous p---k.
