Would be a great option to have, I know he didn't have the best of time with us but watching him and Stoke he seems to be performing like he used to. Would be a starter for me.

Not a bad player, not great either. Better than alot of crap we have especially this season he has shown some good form. I'd take him.

Hard to believe he never got a run out with England's senior team considering he had that good year at Birmingham, and played for us.

He was billed as Englands next big thing for ages. Remember a documentary on the youths in England was on ESPN classic a while back. He was 16 at the time and they were making a huge deal about him.

Anyone else a little bit insulted by that interview? I understand that we've had players who we probably weren't their first choice, and some of them have performed well for us but this is a bit like I don't care who for,as long as I play international football. Personally ive never understood how anyone can play for any country they don't feel a connection to and I don't get the impression he feels anything for us. I suppose that's how it's going though and he could do a job for us.

He seems to want to give it all to be in a world cup and play International football and that's good enough for me.

I think he's being honest, I'm sure a few of the players we have had over the last 20 years would feel the same but never voice it.

As for playing for anyone, I suppose a world cup is the pinnacle of a footballers career and to be involved is something most footballers will never experience.

"I'm 28, I'm not getting any younger and I'd like to play international football, whether it's with England or Ireland," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I'd love to play for England but it's just never happened."

Good man Jermaine! your heart is definitely in the right place!

"You can't just click your fingers and say 'pick me for the team'. You've got to be playing well for your club before you play for any country."

    Exactly, you can't!

I would'nt be insulted by the interview, he's entitled to put it out there. I'd be digusted if we took him up on it though. Nothing personal against him, he's just not Irish.

None of the players below could have been classed as being Irish before they played for us either bobby but without them the Irish international team would have been alot worse off over the past 20 years than things turned out.

    Chris Morris
    Chris Hughton
    Mick McCarthy
    Ray Houghton
    John Aldridge
    Tony Cascarino
    Andy Townsend
    Terry Phelan
    Jason McAteer
    Tommy Coyne
    Steven Reid
    Kevin Kilbane
    Matt Holland
    Lee Carsley
    Seamus Coleman
    Aiden McGeady

Yeah I think i'm correct in thinking there was more English born players in the Irish 94 World Cup Squad than Irish

I never said any of those were not Irish. When someone at 28 years of age instructs they're agent to find a non-english blood line in the family then I'd consider them not to be Irish.

BTW Seamus Coleman is from Donegal no?

Ah I know ya didn't bobby and I can see where your coming from. Point I'm trying to make is there is such a lack of talent currently available to us that we shouldn't be turning our noses up if a player of this level is interested in playing.
