I disagree mate. I thought the English one was brilliant. Brent and Tim were good but Gareth was brilliant.

Oooh debate worthy...... But it's late an I'm tired, so maybe tomorrow.

    That's what she said!

Not better, original office was genius, though I did like the direction the US Office took for the first 4-5 seasons. Loved the Pam and Jim story. But think it's getting strained now and in danger of becoming stale

I really like the American one too. Its probably funnier in a conventional sense but I think the humour in the English one is as you say genius.

I agree, this season has really picked up though, think the writer's are stepping it up seen as it's Carell's last season.

Ricky Gervais is undoubtedly a comedic genius, but IMO and my taste, I prefer the American One, just think it looks more shiny, has a nicer feel to it, has a better all round cast and story, and Steve Carell is brilliant in it, as are most of the side characters, but each to their own I suppose.

oh btw I do like the English Office, I just prefer the US one,.

I couldn't disagree with you more there mate, the US one is decent but the characters in the US one aren't a patch on the original one. And I love the cringey humour in the UK one, don't think it really translates as well to the US. Each to their own I suppose.

Getting sick of Ferell at this stage too so won't be going out of my way to watch any of the new episodes when Carrell goes.

The Extras and The Office are genius comedies imho and will take a lot of beating.

Two very different shows in my opinion, but it’s all about personal choice. Scott at least has some redeeming qualities in the US version, however Brent is just so cringe worthy you end up just waiting for the car crash in each episode. I love both I have to admit, I wonder though if the UK version would have had the legs to do 7 seasons & counting, I for one am glad they didn’t.

The UK characters wouldn’t work in the US, and vice versa, the subtleties of the UK series would go over the head of 90% of the North American viewing population.
