Looks like he is going to defect to scotland, bad move by trap here with the handling of this, he has the potential to be a top player and is putting in good performances in the pl week in week out, He is defo disillusioned by the likes of green and whelan getting in ahead of him, huge loss to ireland if this happens

I agree he's going to be a top player and god knows we can do with him. But I thought the whole thing with him declaring for Ireland was that he promised his dead grandfather? It's obvious trap hasn't got long left so If the lad was really committed to us I don't think a few broken English comments from trappatoni would stop him. He pulled out of a training squad last year due to tiredness, when most players that age would crawl over to be involved for their country. I think he could have managed 45 mins during the week also. I'd question if the lad is as committed to us as was made out but I also understand hes a young lad and it's a tough decision. I hope he plays for Ireland but if he doesn't I won't be blaming trap.

Edit-when I say trap hasn't got long left I mean as manager

martinez said mc carthy will ignore any attempt to play international football until the summer.don't know if he only said that yesterday or it's an old quote but it's in today's paper

I thought his agent came out a few days ago and said he was committed to ireland and wouldn't be changing.

as far as im aware he has no intention to change to scotland.apparantly some of the senior members of the squad arent happy with how trap is dealin or should i say not dealin with the mc carthy situation. trap is gettin far too handy a time off the media etc. the likes off mc carthy, clark and coleman should be brought into the side permanently.how stokes wasnt given game time against wales is a joke.to have walters and keogh ahead of the lad is ridiculous.imo it stems back to his run in with that clown don givens!!

I saw in one of the papers last week that his agent said he has no intention of playing for Scotland. He's declared for Ireland & that's that. Here's hoping! He should be in the squad ahead of that Green muppet. He can't pass to a team mate more than 10 yards away!

Its all aload of Bull. The only people talking in this situation are Trapp and Martinez.Martinez as any club manager would prefer his player not to play international football.Trapp and Martinez have got everything mixed up.

The Boy wants to play for Ireland. He took a huge gamble by Picking Ireland, as when he was in scotland him and his family got some amount of abuse over his decision. He has been out injured for a long period of time, which is why he didnt show up last week, which is fine by me.

I will play for Ireland, and all this rubbish is just a storm in a tea cup, started by both Martinez and Trapp.

I think he will still play for Ireland, and I think Martinez comments have been taken out of context, he was quoted as saying that McCarthy will not be thinking about International football until the summer so he can concentrate on club games.

He wont be changing his allegiances.
Mr Trapatoni on the other hand might want to get his head together in his handling of some players, the younger ones especially.
