View Full Version : Turkish Lawyer To Sue Inter Milan
Fowler's God

Just listening to the Gerry Ryan show on 2 FM.
A Turkish lawyer is going to bring Inter Milan to court over their new white jersey with the red cross on it that they wore against Fenerbahce last month is offensive to Muslims. In all fairness there is senstivity and then there is sanity. He is also going to UEFA to get the result anulled.

Well, the no shirt goal celebation rule was drawn up by UEFA, to appease the Muslims, so who knows what they'll think up next.

Saw this this morning in the paper, apparently the say the flag resembles the crusades flag that occured against muslims years and years ago. i though the jersey looked like the english flag, white with a red cross.
Hope nothing is made of this case, as sueing someone over a jersey they wear, what ever the hell next.

Crazy
Does anyone know why Inter wore this jersey in this particular game. Were Inter not playing at home at the time?

They've worn it a few times its their centenary year and thats the City of Milan flag. They didn't wear it in their away match in Turkey. It all seems fair enough to me !
The shirt's scheme saw a big red cross on a white background, a symbol of the city of Milan, and reminded many of an emblem of the order of the Templars, which is considered offensive in Islamic culture.
Inter consciously did not wear their 'centenary shirt' in their first match against Fenerbahce in Istanbul, but at home, they did not think it was necessary to do the same.
Well its Italian culture not Islamic and they were playing at home. They respectfully didn't wear it when playing in Istanbul.
If England brought out a similiar shirt would they not be allowed to wear it either. It has echoes of the Mohammad cartoons and what happened to that English teacher. Instead of expecting Europe to kow-tow to them how about them integregating with other cultures a bit more. Its far too easy to be classed as racist when commenting on these type of issues but it just seems to me to be a one-way street, not exactly what co-existence and mutual tolerance is based on. This is why I don't think Turkey is ever likely to be a good fit in the EU.
I mean we're sponsored by an alcoholic beverage producer which I believe they would find offensive. Maybe they don't like, particularly Latin, players looking towards the heavens and making the sign of the cross after scoring or before/after a peno or wearing cruxifixes. Where does it stop ?
Maybe this is just an attempt to grab some points like would they qualify if the points were transferred ?
I never knew about the shirtless goal celebration having anything to do with it being offensive to Muslims. Is that deffo true or speculation ?

Holland had better change the colour of their shirts when playing us and england would need to scrap the st george flag.

That is mental. I find everything about the Scum offensive, particularly their use of the term "Red Devils", it offends my religion. I'm going to sue Slur Alex....

LOL
Gud 1!
I find this absolutely hilarious !!In my opinion they're just trying to make themselves heard over the whole bomber thing associated with muslims...
Theres a guy in my class and he's irish but is dark skinned and looks sorta middle eastern and everyone calls him mohammad and always does a little dance to him and the usual slaggings,Durka durka etc...
Pretty stupid tbh and hes always being called a terrorist even though hes actually irish!
First time i seen the jersey i straight away thought of the english flag and they cant really take offence to it as Inter hardly did it on purpose when its their city flag,by the way,the Italians are BIG into their city flags. If anyone has ever been to Sienna, you'll see each little small area has their own flag...

Fifa to ban removal of shirts
Fifa may get shirty with Christian Vieri's celebrations
Football chiefs are set to clamp down on players who strip off their shirts to celebrate scoring a goal.
A Fifa sub-committee will re-instate the rule that the removal of shirts in celebration will be a mandatory cautionable offence.
The law was relaxed a couple of years ago but football's governing body is set to approve a proposal that the celebration must be punished by a yellow card.
Some critics might argue Fifa is taking away the joy of scoring a goal, but there are other considerations.
Football is televised worldwide and Muslim countries find it offensive to see bare chests.
The rule will also please sponsors who have been unhappy that their names are not always visible as the cameras follow a jersey-less goalscorer.
