I have one of these and lately when you select a program to record it doesn't record the entire program - its missing the last 5/10mins. Needless to say very annoying. May as well have an old 1980's VCR!

There is plenty of free space on the box.

    Any ideas?
Also, is there any setting you can change so that ads are not recorded?

Had the same problem. Go into the Menu then DVR then settings and it gives you an option to record x amount of minutes before and after programme I have ten either side and its more than enough.
    Dont know about the adds.

Ok thanks lad will check that out.

Not good enough though from UPC. It defeats the whole purpose of recording being easy. One touch recording my eye!

I know plus you don't seem to be able to series link in advance only given the option when your actually watching the programme.
Thinking of moving over to sky for that Sky atlantic anyway.

You can do this alright. When I select a program it gives me 2 options, 1) Record this Episode, 2) Record the Series.

Its a pain that you have to select the end time. If you hadn't been there to press enter you would have missed recording it.

Not sure how the technology works but I thought each program would have a unique number or whatever, and if you have it selected to record that it would record it all - regardless of whether it was late starting or finishing.

Sounds a right pain alright..like years ago when you were setting a video to record a programme. You would always leave about 10 mins either side to make sure you got all the programme..

Was thinking switching over to UPC, but they have no broadband in Wex and by the sound of what everyone is saying it isn't as good as Sky+ at all...

If your watching Motd and press record mine give's me the two options ie 1) Record this Episode, 2) Record the Series.
But if I set it to record Motd at a future time in the guide it doesnt give me the option to series link.
I have to be there when the programme starts to series link if ya get me drift.

Didnt know that about sky atlantic think i'll stick to the torrents so;)

Well it gives you the default program end time - its just that if the program runs over, you could miss it

UPC has its problems but for the amount of channels you get on Digital Max its cheaper than selecting all the various Sky packages - thats a real pain in my opinion.

I understand what you mean, but I get the series option for current programs and future programs.

I cant find a UPC thread so I'll put this in here...
the folks are looking to go digital but they have a few questions...

Multi-room viewing: is it €5 for each extra room or just €5 total?

Analogue tv set: can they watch digital through an old tv? Some sites say yes, other sites say you need a convertor.

VHS: can they record shows using an old video recorder? I know the digital box is the way forward but the folks arent good with new tech gadgets and would prefer to stick with what they know.;)

    Any help, much appreciated.

Recordning with VHS should be fine, as long as the programme they want to watch is left run., They wont be able to set the VCR to record say number 4 and they switch and watch number 6.

The old TV should be fine, at elast it was/is with SKY

and multiroom is per room, again though that's with SKY

    Just checked my bill
    Multi Room
Additional Cable Digital Max-8.40c and I'd say its per room as you need a box per room

    Not sure about the rest
