It's fairly clear that Liverpool are tracking this lad. It's at the bottom of this article. The Echo are normally fairly OK with their speculation in my opinion, http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...-demanding-record-50m-deal-100252-28084082/2/ What do fellows think ?
I wasn't sure either but reading up on him he got on the Premiereship team of the Year twice, has won the young player of the Year award and 3 seasons ago he had 17 assists in the Premiereship which is quality. I suspect it may only go through if we get the bobs off Chelski !!!
It's so close to the deadline that the money has to be big to prize them away from their clubs, football is gone mad
If we had Young and Suarez as replacements for Babel and Konchesky by close of business I'll be estatic. Still rather keep Torres than improve any of our rivals.
This for me is the main point of all this, we can not do it, id rather lose out on 50mil than strenghthen our rivals,. Anyone remember "the curse of the babe"?
Theres no point in buying Andy Carroll if we also dont buy a winger. What would be the point in having Carroll if you expecting Kuyt and Maxi to provide service for him???
It's more like Carroll and Suarez for Torres and Babel. Selling Torres to Chelski is a sickener but for £50m and as he wants to go, he should go, provided we get a replacement. I think Torres is mad to go to Chelski. They are on a downward spiral. The age of their squad is a huge problem for them. If Torres was going to Barca I won't blink an eyelid but Chelski is ridiculous. Also clearly the lad has been tapped up. Chelski came in with a low ball offer, very close to the deadline and knew he'd put in a transfer request and hoped Liverpool would panic. Thank fcuk Hodgson is gone !!! Clearly the lad wanted to go in the Summer and has been sulking ever since. Explains an awful lot. £50m and cheerio. if not, keep him.
I agree, we need wingers but Carroll has a shot on him as well. Remember that shot vs. the Pool at St James Park and excuse the crappy closing down. It was a cracking strike of the ball. He can also hold the ball up very well and link the play. Hardly any strikers can do properly and score as well in the Premiereship, Drodba, tevez but few and far between.
Aston Villa caretaker manager Gary McAllister has said the club will do "everything" they can to keep England winger Ashley Young. The 25-year-old, who has one year left on his contract, has been linked with a move to Manchester United. "I don't think it's inevitable Ashley will go. We will do everything we can to keep him here," McAllister said. The Scot added that the club will hold talks with midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker, who is out of contract in the summer. Young has blossomed into a full England international at Aston Villa, but is yet to play in the Champions League. And McAllister, who had a taste of Europe's top club competition at the end of his career with Liverpool, said he understood the attraction of joining a top-four club. "The grass is also not always greener somewhere else but we are not silly. We have to be realistic," he commented. "All players have ambition to play in the Champions League. We can't give them that. It's a goal but we all know how difficult it is to get up there. "You can always understand the lure of playing in that competition. I managed to get a touch of it as a balding old man and it is a great experience." McAllister, who is deputising for boss Gerard Houllier while he recovers from illness, added that Reo-Coker's contract situation was also high on his agenda. The Scot stated: "We spoke the last time in November, December but we're fully aware of the situation and we'll be looking to speak to Nigel over the next two or three weeks. "He's a player who's been very committed since we've arrived, when he's been in the team and out of the team. "He's actually won his place in the team by the way he's gone about his training in the week and I applaud that." I wonder has Young said to Villa he only wants to leave to play in the Champions League
I thought we would have got Young but recent reports suggest otherwise. I think is price is going to be considerably higher than generally quoted.
he has only 1 year left on his contract- right? even so, with 'gud 'ol 'arry' & his cockney brigade about, that price will probably be doubled!
