from lfc.tv Liverpool Football Club has announced Spanish striker Fernando Torres has passed a medical ahead of his proposed move from Atletico Madrid. The 23-year-old is now expected to put pen to paper on Wednesday before being unveiled to the press. A club spokesman said: "The player has passed a medical. All the agreements are now in place and he will put pen to paper on the deal on Wednesday." Torres scored 82 in 214 appearances for Atletico, while for Spain he's bagged 14 goals in 40 games
Good news- looks like Rafa has got his no. 1 choice- he seems to have been backed fully by the new owners... Now lets hope this is a step towards no 19
Great addition. This is the one everybody wanted. He will score loads. 84 in 212 may not seem amazing, but I predict 19-22 league goals, over 30 in all competitions... Oh Campione will sound again I think....but now for a song
This is great news, lets hope for an excellent year ahead .... it's just a shame we had to get more dosh into the club, to keep pace with the others, but hey now we are back on (close to) an even keel ..... we'll show them what Liverpool FC is really made of
All i can say is - YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Finally a top class player. Time for "El Nino" to become "El......Whaever Man is in Spanish Anyone know?
Lets hope he is a bigger success than EL Moro. Morientas was and still is a class act in Spain. He could not handle the rough and tumble of the Premiership. With Kuyt doing the hard work, hopefully El Nino will bag the goals

Got it in before on the Reds in for Torres BBC thread but lets all rejoice finally landed the man. El Nino will blow the premiership away!!!!
heard it on the forums on the Liverpool Echo website under the Liverpool forum from one of the posters in there
I can't see Torres doing any better than Kuyt if we play the same way (tactically) we did last year. Kuyt spent most of his time dropping off from the front and ending up out on the wings leaving nobody in the box, just hope we dont play the same way this year or if we do, we make sure Torres is in the box all the time when/if Kuyt drops off. Unless we finally get an out and out winger who can take on his man and beat him and cross properly our stikers wont score much more goals. Also the likelihood that Gerrard is going to stay out on the right wont exactly increase our stikers goalscoring record. His (Torres) goals to games ratio is no great shakes and i know its by no means a way to judge a player but it would be nice if he had a better strike rate. He is still very young so will have time to adjust. Im just a bit more cautious and not jumping for joy as much as everybody else seems to be.(having learned from Morientes) Obviously would have much preferred Villa or Eto and its a big investment Benitez is making especially when you look at what Berbatov cost. Think Bent may have been better overall value taking into account him being suited to the English game and having a bit more pace and his cost. Also none of our strikers assuming we sell Bellamy will have any great pace,so does that make for more boring football next season consisting of long balls? Not being negative just going to be a bit more wary of expecting too much of Torres, unless we change the way we play and be a bit more adventurous thereby creating more chances.
Get in there, finally Rafas got his man!!! Now for Quaresma, he's the winger I've said should be our no.1 target wide man, if we get him no.19 is a serious possibllity!
a duck 2 water lol. more like a fly to shit. messin yeah im sure he,ll be ready hopefully. finger are tightly crossed
