Great addition. This is the one everybody wanted. He will score loads. 84 in 212 may not seem amazing, but I predict 19-22 league goals, over 30 in all competitions...
Oh Campione will sound again I think....but now for a song

Lets hope he is a bigger success than EL Moro. Morientas was and still is a class act in Spain. He could not handle the rough and tumble of the Premiership. With Kuyt doing the hard work, hopefully El Nino will bag the goals

I can't see Torres doing any better than Kuyt if we play the same way (tactically) we did last year.
Kuyt spent most of his time dropping off from the front and ending up out on the wings leaving nobody in the box, just hope we dont play the same way this year or if we do, we make sure Torres is in the box all the time when/if Kuyt drops off.
Unless we finally get an out and out winger who can take on his man and beat him and cross properly our stikers wont score much more goals.
Also the likelihood that Gerrard is going to stay out on the right wont exactly increase our stikers goalscoring record.
His (Torres) goals to games ratio is no great shakes and i know its by no means a way to judge a player but it would be nice if he had a better strike rate.
He is still very young so will have time to adjust.
Im just a bit more cautious and not jumping for joy as much as everybody else seems to be.(having learned from Morientes)
Obviously would have much preferred Villa or Eto and its a big investment Benitez is making especially when you look at what Berbatov cost.
Think Bent may have been better overall value taking into account him being suited to the English game and having a bit more pace and his cost.
Also none of our strikers assuming we sell Bellamy will have any great pace,so does that make for more boring football next season consisting of long balls?
Not being negative just going to be a bit more wary of expecting too much of Torres, unless we change the way we play and be a bit more adventurous thereby creating more chances.

Get in there, finally Rafas got his man!!! Now for Quaresma, he's the winger I've said should be our no.1 target wide man, if we get him no.19 is a serious possibllity!

I'm not so sure he's a great or even a good signing. Time will tell. I think he'll find it tough to settle. God I hope I'm wrong.

I'm just saying time will tell. As I said, I hope he's going to be a great signing for us. I'm just not so sure about some of the players Benitez signed. Garcia is a perfect example. So inconsistant. And so frustrating to watch. Those "moment of brilliance" he's had were to few and far between.
Mark Gonzalez. The less said the better.
Jermaine Pennant. 5 good games a season isn't enough at a club like liverpool. And he was overpriced.
And how long did Josemi last at the club?
Morientes?
Zenden?
Yeah he's made some real good signings too (Agger, Alonso. Sissoko will be class too soon enough)
I'm a Liverpool fan just like everybody here. But i'm a realist. I go by stats. Benitez is a very good manager. His record proves this. But some of the players he's brouoght in just din't do it for me.
I hope I'm back here very soon to admit I was wrong. Only time will tell.

Don't forget Pellegrino!
Pennant has done ok,especially towards the end of the season, apart from that I'd agree with your synopsis.
But I think Torres will be the missing link, but unlike you mate I'm an optimist, one things for sure every Pool fan will be behind him %110 of the way.

I remember hearing (could just be an excuse) that the reason we signed Pellegrino was so he could teach the rest of the defense/team how to defend using the zonal marking or whatever it is Benitez likes us to use off corners and frees.

Thought he would of been the worst person to learn from, the amount of goals from corners we conceded when he was there!
Imagine Carra being taught by him! He'd be insulted!
If this is true, thats still not an excuse for putting him in the starting 11

Oh for sure. I wish him and all the Liverpool squad the best of luck for obvious reasons.

If you go by stats then you should know that Garcia's were impressive not only his goals to minutes played ratio, best in the whole league for one season, but the amount of league points won his goals and we all know about his cup impact.
He scored what 5 in 2005 CL and was on 3 in the group stage before getting injured last year. Overall 1 in 4 for a midfielder is impressive considering how many of those games were as a sub, no ? And he didn't take an age to settle in either being our top goal scorer in his first season.
I also saw a stat table about goals scored in Top 4 derbies and he was only second to Drogba by one goal, that was in response to an article claiming we didn't have anybody that scored against top 4 teams, in comparison how many has Ronaldo goals scored against the top 4 ??!!
I know he could be frustrating but going on stats his moments of brilliance weren't so few and far apart or inconsistent as first might seem.
