Boo Hissss ... Negativity!!
Delighted but cautious to see Kenny back.
I just wonder will he be given any serious funds for transfer?
Does anyone think that NESV wont give him any money (or any serious money)?
By appointing Kenny they could say, we're not giving an care-taker manager money, that way they avoid a transfer window. Im 90% convinced that Torres will go in the summer, so they sell him for 50million and use that money to buy players, another window avoided.
Am I way off, or is it just the way the modern Liverpool fan works - doesnt trust anyone anymore

Big rumors Andy Carolls latest injury was caused by a (alledged) 5am drunken fall in a casino.
Lad I know was playing at the same table as him in a casino in Newcastle the night Newcastle beat us. Said he was a beast of man and great bit of craic.
If I were Kenny he would be my number one target followed by a left back and left winger with pace.

Don't think they would try and pull this , maybe on Roy but not Kenny.
Think Kenny will have his say on who comes in if his name is linked to them imo.
IF Comolli transfers , Kenny will make it clear there the clubs and he will just get on with what he has as only interim and happy with the situation under the interim contract but if kept on he will call the shot on the final pick after Comolli has put list in front of Kenny for Discussion.

Cant see there be many high profile signings this window as if a new manager comes in in June he will want to work with his own players, and also the January Transfer window is usually shit..So id say a few loan signings, from other teams, with whom they are fringe players, and cant get into their 25 man Squad.

I don't,. I said it about him before that he only had that one good season and hasn't lived upto it since, he also gets booked way way way too much and gives away tooany freekicks that I think he is actually a liability for Villa,. The money he'd cost in a transfer fee signing bonus andassive wages, I'd much rather get Adam Johnson, Eden Hazard, Antoine Griezman, lukaku or someone of that ilk,. That'sy opinion on it anyway.

Based on what Kenny says in his book, he has a big soft spot for Aqualiani and unless he has made his mind not to come back, he may be a surprise return to the fold....stranger things have happen....in the last 6 months at Anfield.

We have been linked with Huth but I wouldnt fancy him. Would take Wheater over him to be honest. shawcross or Cahill would be great but expensive.
Nzogbia, Young or Turan would be great. Would like a CM too. Would love Adebayor (the goals over the attitude).
Think we need a LB, CM, CB winger and forward. I honestly dont think, Lucas, PK, Soto, NGog and Maxi are up to it. Maybe squad players but certainly not all in the same 11.

Agree, he has come on a long way and improved a lot. I just think that he is not of the standard of midfielders in the top 5/6 in the PL. Lucas could fit into a good Liverpool side but I think in the current side we need better.
Anyway, not sure about Gabbi upfront with Torres. Kuyt could fit into your team instead.

IMO, Given his longer than expected injurY at the start and being in and out of the team, he didnt exactly get a great deal of time to adapt, it doesnt happen over night and some take longer than others, his ability is unquestionable. Roy didnt even have a look at him FFS. i think itll be a terrible loss to just get rid of him if thats the case not to mention the money we paid.

Sevilla will accept £17m Liverpool bid for Negredo
It has been recently reported that the Liverpool transfer guru Damien Comolli has pinpointed Alvaro Negredo from Sevilla as the perfect striker partner for Fernando Torres, as John W Henry begins his quest to improve the Liverpool team for the Champions League chase next season, and to prove to the current players that the club still has high ambitions.
The 25 year-old Spanish international will certainly not come cheap, but reports from Spain are saying that Sevilla have put a price of 20m euros on Negredo’s head, which is a very fair price for a striker that has been prolific in La Liga.
His problem at Sevilla is that he is behind Luis Fabiano in the pecking order which means that he is not guaranteed first-team football every week. He has also got a reputation in Spain of being a bit of a hothead after being sent off three times last season, but in England that would be a sign of his passion for the game. A trait that would be very handy at Anfield at the moment.
The rumours linking Negredo with a move to Anfield have been rife for the last few days, but the player himself denied yesterday that he was aware of any contact between Liverpool and Sevilla. He said: “I read something, but my representative has said there is nothing happening at the moment. I am comfortable with the situation and will just focus on playing for Sevilla.”
Kenny Dalglish’s first job as Liverpool manager will be to convince the players that from now on they will be aiming to regain their rightful place in the Big Four, and buying a player like Negredo will be the perfect signal of intent.

This team needs an injection of talent up front and in wide areas. It would be foolish for the backroom staff not to add some new faces. when you see the likes of bentley potentially going to Birmibngham and bridge going to Villa it makes you wonder. Although I wouldn't think splashing out big bucks on either would be a good idea I think they would be good additions on loan. We need a new left back and some width.
Negredo is not the quality of player i would like to see come in. There are many good strikers kicking about but how difficult would it be to get them in. I would prefer some of the more illustrous names that have been mentioned.

Nothing new there: Comolli 's been saying this for weeks now.
But I think that when Cit€h manage to sign Dzeko, one can not use "a difficult market" as an excuse for doing nothing: a transfer window has never been and is never going to be easy.
I'm confident something will happen in january, but not untill the last few days.

New Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has gone back to old club Blackburn to make young striker Jason Banton the first signing of his second spell at Anfield.
Dalglish has snapped up the former England youth international after Rovers let him go because he was growing unsettled.
Banton joined Rovers from Arsenal - where he also became fed up at his lack of progress through the ranks - two years ago, and he had been pushing for a first-team squad slot at Ewood Park.
The 18-year-old is a tall, fast striker and was top scorer in Rovers' academy side in his first full season at the club but fell out with members of the coaching staff and was released.
However, the Londoner has now walked into Anfield, where he will get a deal until the end of the season - and the chance to impress Dalglish.

Would be happy with one big signing in January - provided it was an experienced player who is going to improve us straight away - though have a feeling any signings in January may be more for the future.
There is never that many quality experienced players floating around in the January transfer window, so may be a matter of sitting and waiting till the Summer.

Not really tbh, not sure who is available (not much I'd say). Suarez would certainly be a signing in the right direction - though just can't see it happening.
It needs to be an attacking player anyway and not another right sided player - so a left sided winger and/or a quality striker.

Dalglish to demand cash from Liverpool chiefs
By David Maddock
Kenny Dalglish will meet with Liverpool's owners today... and plead for the cash to rescue the season.
The new Anfield manager is due to have talks with American bosses John Henry and Tom Werner after they flew in for crisis meetings over the direction the club must take.
And top of the agenda will be funds for the new players Dalglish believes are required to add more strength to his squad, both in terms of physical presence and character.
Ideally, he would like a midfield enforcer to ride shotgun alongside skipper Steven Gerrard, and provide the leadership that has been sorely missing of late.
He would also like a striker to provide both backup to and competition for Fernando Torres, who has been out of sorts for much of the season, with his lack of goals a significant factor in the club's slump.
The new owners Fenway Sports Group had originally planned to wait until the summer before splashing the cash, but Dalglish will warn that with the club dangling just four points above the relegation zone, swift action is required.
The manager has already been given the go-ahead to rival Arsenal for the signature of £10million-rated Southampton teenager Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but he wants more experienced strikers.
Liverpool are in the hunt for Uruguay hitman Luis Suarez, who would cost around £15million, and have watched Dutch forward Eljero Elias, Wigan playmaker Charles N'zogbia, Daniel Sturridge of Chelsea and towering Cluj centre-forward Lacina Traore.
Their precarious flirtation with the relegation zone has left the manager is desperate need of a midfield enforcer, with Mark van Bommel suddenly coming into the equation.
His club, Bayern Munich, want a fee even though he is out of contract in the summer, but his experience over the next tricky few months could prompt a bid.
Dalglish knows he needs a tough player with experience of the Premier League who can go straight into the side, and will check the situation of Sunderland's Lee Cattermole, Scott Parker at West Ham and Wigan powerhouse Mohamed Diame, as well as Real Madrid's Lassana Diarra, who previously played in England.
It will be a crucial meeting and will signal the intent of the owners as they assess the nightmare prospect of the club slipping into the bottom three.
Dalglish admitted that he hasn't yet had time to speak to the owners about transfer money, but it is clear it will be a priority.
"Whether there's going to be any players coming in or moving around, I don't know. I can always make a request, it might not always be accepted," he said.
"If there is the possibility of bringing somebody in we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
"At the moment I've not asked for anybody, and whether something transpires in that area remains to be seen, but I have had no conversations about it."
*****************************
Kenny says he hasn't had time to speak about transfers but Maddock says he has been given the green light to go for Alex chamberlain .......
£10million for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is only 17 and only played around 20 games in league one ?

Liverpool to swoop for Marseille contract rebel
Liverpool have made contact with Marseille over the availability of Taye Taiwo.
Liverpool are keen to sign a new left back and their attention has switched to the Nigeria international after an assessment of the squad by caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish. The Scot made the surprising decision to play out-of-form Glen Johnson in that position in the 2-1 defeat to Blackpool highlighting the lack of options in that position. Fabio Aurelio was mysteriously omitted while Paul Konchesky is tipped to follow former manager Roy Hodgson through the exit door after a failing to rise to the level expected at Anfield.
Taiwo has emerged as the Reds number one target after impressing for L'Om over a number of seasons. Quick and powerfully built, the 25-year-old is solid tackler but also provides an added dimension in attack. His strong running and powerful shot are an asset to the Ligue 1 club for whom he also gets on the scoresheet from direct free-kicks.
With his contract running out at the Stade Velodrome at the end of the season, Marseille had hoped to have had a new deal tied up by now with Taiwo publicly voicing his desire to stay. But with no agreement yet in place, Liverpool fancy their chances of picking the player up for knockdown price of around £4m.

If David Maddock is telling the truth in the article posted by Rocco there then it begs the question as to why are they only meeting about transfers halfway through January?
Kenny was working at the club before he became manager and was probably involved with scouting.
I have plenty of time for NESV but who exactly is running the club day to day at the moment?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8258473/Liverpool-manager-Kenny-Dalglish-targets-four-January-buys-in-crucial-transfer-window.html
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish targets four January buys in crucial transfer window
Though the Scot has offered his squad staunch support in public since he replaced Roy Hodgson at Anfield – insisting after Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at Blackpool that the players already at his disposal "look good enough" to move Liverpool away from the relegation zone – he is convinced he must use the transfer window to bolster his resources if he is to have any chance of salvaging the season.
Henry arrived on Merseyside on Thursday to begin a 10-day visit and will doubtless seek talks with his caretaker manager as a matter of urgency. The American can expect the 59 year-old to request that Fenway Sports Group, the club's parent company, makes substantial funds available this month, despite the uncertainty over his position and Liverpool's repeated insistence that January is a "difficult" time to buy.
Dalglish – together with Damien Comolli, the club's director of football strategy – is thought to harbour hopes that as many as four senior reinforcements could be drafted in, with a left-back, a wide player and a striker top of his agenda.
Luis Suarez, the Ajax striker, has emerged as the most likely target for the last of these positions, with the player's club minded to sell him – providing they receive an offer in excess of £18 million. Sources in Holland have confirmed that a bid from Liverpool, who have watched the player intensely over the last few months, is anticipated.
As well as Suarez, the Ajax left-back Urby Emanuelson is believed to be a target, while Lille duo Gervinho and Eden Hazard – both of whom can play either as an orthodox striker or in a wide position – have attracted Liverpool's attention. Moves for Yann M'Vila and Sylvain Marveaux, both of Rennes, are expected to wait until the summer.
Ashley Young, of Aston Villa, and Charles N'Zogbia, the Wigan winger, have also been discussed, though it is feared the former's asking price may prove prohibitive, while the DW Stadium club have received no offers for the latter. Hamburg's Eljero Elia and Anderlecht's Romelu Lukaku are also under consideration.
Dalglish's determination to sign a left-back to replace Paul Konchesky may also lead to a return to Anfield for Stephen Warnock, with the club believed to be considering a loan offer with a view to a permanent move in the summer.
What the Scot will seek to learn from Henry, though, is what level of funding is likely to be available, as he admitted on Thursday. "I can always make a request [for money], but it might not always be accepted," said Dalglish. "I have never broached the subject of money being available with the owners. If there is a possibility of someone coming in then we will cross that bridge when we come to it."
FSG has made it clear it will not set a hard and fast transfer budget, preferring to judge each case on its own merit, but with just 17 days of the window remaining, the club cannot afford to waste time. It also remains uncertain as to what extent Dalglish must trim his squad before he seeks additional recruits. FSG is unimpressed with Liverpool's already bloated wage bill and is unlikely to permit its exponential growth simply for short-term gain.
Saleable assets, though, are in short supply at Anfield. Konchesky cannot be sold without dispensation from Fifa as he has already played for two clubs this season, while the wages earned by the likes of Christian Poulsen, Ryan Babel and Milan Jovanovic will make them hard to move on.

I really think we were lead into a false dawn with the takeover. We suffered for years at the hands of Hicks/Gillett and when the new owners came in we all thought that was it we can get on with the football. However all the euphoria of the court case has long since settled and nothing has changed on the football front. Same performances, same results, same players and same uncertainty. Well thats what it looks like froma supporters point of view.
We have been linked with ever player under the sun, good ones and bads ones. We have sewn up deals as early as December with real quality players. And put in place deals to bring in talented youth players with an eye on the future. Every day we check the website for players linked and pray for some movement and we are left going into the next week with the same bunch of under performing players. We just have not had any luck on the field and matters off the field have really conspired against us.
The owners are coming over for the merseyside derby at the weekend and maybe we will see some movement next week? Apparently Dalglish has not asked about transfer funds or discussed possible transfers and thinks the current squad is good enough. Well I'm not sure I believe that but what is definate is we need about £30m and about 4 players in January to have a squad who can at least compete each week. Come the summer we'll need another £50m to invest.
What has become apparent over the last few weeks is our inability to defend and that is from the front. We really do need a midfield general of the Mascherano mould to sort this out. I would love to see scott Parker come and if we offered West Ham the right money we'd get him. We lack any direction in the middle of the park when Gerrard doesn't play and too many players go hiding. Skertel has become a woeful centre back and is a real weak link at the back, we need a commanding cebntre back in the Cahill, Shawcross mould. A wide player is a must and that may just galvanise Torres who just gets no support. A striker who give us that plan B that we don't have. We can strengthen this squad in January no doubt but may be scared off by inflated prices.
The team lacks players who want to take responsibility. we don't have strong enough characters on the pitch and that makes us soft on our travels and nervous at home. Are we on paper that much worse than Man Utd? I would say probably not but they have more match winners, more believe and more passion. It is definately a mindset. Just look how Nani has turned himself round from an underperforming player like Babel to a match winner, don't see him on Twitter. Have we got a new bunch of spice boys in this squad. Get the likes of Lucas, Shelvey, Babel and Johnson off Twitter and get their minds on football.
So lets bring in a left back, centre back, wide man and striker in January and try to save the season. There is loan signings out there if we want them, just look at the deals involving Bentley, Bridge and Santa Cruz. They would all have improved our squad but we seem to have got mixed up with this vision for the future instead of dealing with the present which is providing an entertainment for supporters, winning football matches and avoiding relegation. Football is a business but an entertainment one where performances on the pitch are all important lets not see us take ourt eyes off that.
Parker, Cahill, Suarez and Honda would be a nice start!!

From Kenny's first interview Kenny and Comoli were pretty much implying that Kenny had no input into any players Roy was looking at. Could be waffle, you'd imagine there was some type of discussion. If maddock is right then not too reassuring as all seems like panic stations now.

Have patience. If you want instant success go support someone with a sugar daddy (not that I'd ever doubt your commitment to the Liverpool cause). How long have the owners been around? 4 months now? If even. In that time they've been working on replacing the old administration at the club with people they believe can make the best decisions for the future of the club. They also addressed the manager issue (and paid a big sum of money to Roy in doing so). Everything they have done till now, noone knew anything concrete about it until it was done. Why should we think the January transfer window will be any different.
We've all seen the weaknesses in the squad over the past few months and I'm sure they see them too but there is no magic wand (except for Torres ;) ) to improve results. That takes time and certainly more than 4 months when you consider the task at hand at Liverpool FC. So again, have patience. It's all part of the plan.

Just on that £30 + £50 million investment in the space of 6-8 months you are hoping for. How do you think that will go down with UEFA's new rules about profitability in terms of getting in the Europa/Champs league. The rebuilding of Liverpool is going to take time and shrewd investment in players. Knee jerk signings is (one of the things) what got us where we are today.

No you misunderstand what I am saying. I think many thought once we got rid of Hicks/Gillett we would be much better off and start moving forward. i don't think for one minute we all imagined we would be in such disarray. i am not blaming the new owners i am merely saying we thought our woes would be over.
We need to balance the books and that is a definate however we need to ensure this club is in the PL next season and there is nothing to suggest we will at this rate. We need some investment and quick. Now Januarys prices are inflated so we need to have some caution but how would a 6 month loan affect the books?
Yes it is clear that the owners are in it for the long run and have a vision for the future. However lets not forget about the present and negate the fact that we are going backwards at a hell of a rate. if we don't stop that we will go down! Now bar bringing in players there is no other way of stabilising the slide and squad.
My point is you need to spend money, simple as that. the club has been badly mismanaged off the filed of play and we are in this difficult situation because of that. i understand the cautious approach but not to the detrement of the team and its standing in the PL.

Spot on Mate. We need to stop looking for a quick fix. If some good business can be done they'll do it. On the pitch I'd be happy if Kenny continues to give the young players a chance and changing the style of play back to what were used to. Even it means we lose some more games and finish 12th or whatever.
This is the start of a massive rebuilding process on and off the pitch. It will take time so I think we should all be patient and positive. Compared to where we were a few months back this is heaven.

january is the time for knee jerk signings as pointed out, it is true.
Arsenal are looking for a centre half, because they badly need one. Spurs want Beckham on loan, because they want to increase shirt sales.
We have decent players, they're just going through confidence crisis, so i would not like to see knee jerk signings.
However, if luis suarez became available and fancied a move to liverpool, it would be unwise to follow up on that. He would be a long term solution (i hope)

I hope we get a good signing in this window too, there's lots of room to improve the team. We're currently 5 points off bottom and while I think Kenny will save us the embarrassment of a relegation fight, the team needs a lift. A good signing would be not only help plug some gaps in terms of quality on the pitch but would be a boost to some of the players who may feel they have nothing to play for.

I think the whole Beckham thing is politics and is all to do with Spurs interest in the London Olympic Stadium post 2012 Olympics. Beckham has influence within the FA and was also involved in the Olympic bid for London as well.

I think that by now Comolli will have some kind of a transfer short-list, and I cannot imagine that he hasn't discussed this - recently or before - with people like the King, Rushie and other ex-players at the club.
It is plausible that since Henry is coming over for the derby, the list will be discussed and decisions will be made.

While January is no doubt a quick fix and sometimes seen as a time when there are knee jerk reaction signings it's important to point out that this is the last transfer window before the Uefa Financial Fair play rules kick in.
No signings made in January will be taken into account for the new regulations, it only starts from the summer. If we are planning on spending big money then there is some sense in doing it in January.

Dalglish cools transfer talk
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish insists he has not discussed potential transfer targets for the current window with the club's owners.
Principal owner John Henry will make his first visit to the city for two months for this weekend's Merseyside derby against Everton, fuelling transfer speculation surrounding the club.
But Dalglish, while admitting he has a meeting scheduled with the American owner, says he has no idea what will be discussed.
"It would be rude not to talk to them considering they employ us," said the 59-year-old Scot.
"We will be having a conversation but I don't know what will be on the agenda.
"We have not even had a conversation about transfers so there is no way I am going to pre-judge anything that is going to happen because if no players come in, you'll say I'm getting my P45, so I can't win.
"I am delighted with the players we have here and there is not any movement one way or the other about players."
Speculation
Dalglish has shrugged off talk about players the club are being linked with, joking: "I don't know who has written what because I haven't had time to look at papers - but it must be true.
"We will take it as it comes and as soon as we have anything to report to anyone we won't be trying to withhold news, which we think is beneficial to everyone.
"We are not trying to be obtrusive in any way, it is just a fact."
It appears no immediate deals are in the offing as director of football strategy Damien Comolli took the day off on Friday.
"There has been plenty of speculation but we are not contributing to that - we have nothing to report," added Dalglish.
"I don't need to agree with the speculation or respond to it."

Urby Emanuelson's agent has played down reports linking Liverpool with a move for the Ajax defender.
Reports have suggested Liverpool have targeted the Dutch international to help solve their problematic left-back position.
Emanuelson's future at Ajax has been the subject of speculation for some time with the player rejecting a new deal at the Amsterdam ArenA and his contract expiring in the summer.
New Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is thought to be keen to bring in some new faces to freshen up the squad at Anfield and Emanuelson has been mentioned as a possible target due to his versatility in that he can play in defence or midfield.
Emanuelson's, representative, Brian Berkleef, insists he has had no contact with Liverpool, but that the Dutchman would consider a move to Anfield if they came calling for his services.
"Nobody from Liverpool has contacted us about Urby, but they are a great club and we would be happy to talk to them if they were to contact us," Berkleef told skysports.com.
"Obviously there is a lot of clubs interested in Urby as he is a talented player and he is out of contract in the summer.
"It is a bit tricky as Ajax could make some money by selling him now, but I think he will stay until the end of the season as he wants to try and win the championship with Ajax.
"However, if a good offer arrives and Urby feels good about it he would consider moving this month."
i have to say what ive seen of this guy i would love him at the club much better than nzogbia and the likes and can play as full back or on the wing, but this story seems like a come get me plea ?

From The Sunday Times, at 33 he is a fair age - not too sure how much he will bring to us but when you think we spent £4.5m or so on Poulsen.
It is clearly a short term transfer. He will want decent wages you would think.
Liverpool chase hardman Van Bommel
Kenny Dalglish is close to the first signing of his second spell in charge at Anfield, with Liverpool tabling a bid for Mark Van Bommel
Jonathan Northcroft
Published: 16 January 2011
Kenny Dalglish is close to the first signing of his second spell in charge at Anfield, with Liverpool tabling a bid for Mark van Bommel that meets Bayern Munich’s valuation of their defensive midfielder.
Van Bommel, the Holland captain, has been told he can leave Bayern for any club willing to pay €3m (£2.53m) for his services. Liverpool have made such an offer, although they face competition from AC Milan, who have also bid €3m. A number of other clubs are interested in the 33-year-old but only Liverpool and their Italian rivals have come forward with solid bids.
Van Bommel has long spoken of his desire to play in England, although the lure of AC Milan, who unlike Liverpool can offer Champions League football, is considerable.
Van Bommel has wanted to leave Bayern since the German giants refused his request for a new two-year contract earlier this season. He has just six months left on his current deal, hence his low price tag. With Bayern having signed another central midfielder, the Brazilian, Gustavo, from FC Hoffenheim, the Germans had entered the January transfer window willing to let Van Bommel go.
A snag has developed, however, in the shape of an injury crisis. Bayern’s chief executive, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, is expected to hold a meeting tomorrow with Christian Nerlinger, their general manager, and Louis van Gaal, their coach, at which a decision on Van Bommel’s future will be made. Liverpool’s case may be helped by the fact that relations between Van Gaal and Van Bommel have become strained.
Van Bommel, a former PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona player, was instrumental in getting Holland to the World Cup final and is seen as an experienced, combative performer who can give authority to a Liverpool midfield that has struggled this season after the departure of Javier Mascherano. Christian Poulsen and Raul Meireles have not convinced in the role Mascherano used to fill and Liverpool have once more relied too much on Steven Gerrard, who is suspended for today’s Mersey derby at Anfield. Van Bommel also brings a degree of passing ability, another quality Liverpool have lacked since Xabi Alonso left.
Dalglish, installed as caretaker after Roy Hodgson left by mutual consent last weekend, believes Liverpool have to strengthen their squad during this transfer window. Damien Comolli, Liverpool’s director of football strategy, is understood to share that view. Comolli and Dalglish will this week meet John Henry, one of the club’s principal owners, to discuss transfer policy, with Henry flying to Liverpool from the US to spend several days addressing issues at his club, including appointing a chief executive, with Celtic’s Peter Lawwell favourite to get the job.

Think we all agree that we have enough (maybe too many) squad players.
We need players that can go straight into the first 11,and make an immediate impact, easier said than done..but we need to splash the cash to attract the top players...and to show our top players our intent.

I agree with this however i would hate to see us being held to ransom by other clubs just because we are in need
I would rather see kenny give more chances to the young lads and then splash all the big money in the summer. Lets be honest if we finish in the top 8 we will be doing well no matter who is brought in.

I honestly don't understand why a struggling team would allow their first choice left back out on loan when chances are we'll return him at the end of the season and they'll be no better off.

Not happy with us going for loan players either if we are bringing in anybody it shoild be long term however if this is true at least he will add a bit of steel to the back four and will play for the shirt

Whilst I think VanBommel is far too old and would want too much money; if we did sign him along with Charlie Adam (Im only going on the 3 or 4 games Ive seen of him and he looks sharpe but they jury is still out) that could seal up our midfield issuesfor the season ... Still leaves us needing atleast 1 good centre back

Warnock, Van Bommell and Suarez are all nasty *******s. I know they're only rumours but I do feel we have 1 to many pussies in our squad. I'd be delighted with 2 out of those 3 and happy enough to take Warnock once we can give him back in 6 months.

Defensive mid ..
Wondering what peoples thoughts are on Anthony Annan 24 read he is available for £2m , its been a while since i seen him play at club level but thought he was going to be the next big thing , very impressed when i did see him play.
The lad was outstanding playing in all of Ghana's games in the World cup and played a huge role getting them there in qualification.
Seems Sevilla have turned their attention to Anthony Annan {Rosenberg - Ghana} with a offer of £1.5m .
During the world cup all the top clubs were scouting him as the next Makelele/Essien
Seems he only has until Dec 2011 left on his contract.
Imo this is a no brainer ... £2m....

I wud say the Blackpool lads got one year contracts wit increased money to reflect premiership status but if they get relegated the club can just renegotiate them to championship levels!! Other wise you end up wit a Leeds/boro/Newcastle situation where you are paying premiership wages to championship players!!
