The former England international could have his United career brought to an end as early as next month – or at the end of the season. Owen has been pushed towards the exit by the red hot form of Dimitar Berbatov and Mexican sensation Javier Hernandez. With Federico Macheda tipped for big things by Sir Alex Ferguson and Danny Welbeck set to return from a season-long loan at Sunderland in the summer, Owen has finally had to accept that his Old Trafford career is over. United will listen to offers in the January transfer window, with Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier likely to be at the head of the queue for the player he had at Liverpool. Ferguson believed Owen’s experience could prove crucial to his strike force when signing him in a controversial deal two summers ago. That proved to be the case with the former Real Madrid and Newcastle hitman scoring vital goals against City and in the Carling Cup final last season. But with Berbatov finally finding consistency and Hernandez’s stunning introduction to the Premier League since his arrival in the summer, Owen’s opportunities have all but dried up. Ferguson has traditionally operated with a pool of four strikers but currently has five at club, with Welbeck set to return. Even Berbatov had to settle for a place on the bench when United beat Arsenal at the start of the month – only emphasising how fierce the competition is for starting places up front.
He's consistently made bad career decisions since he left us. If you throw in his injury record I think you've have to say his career hasn't got anywhere near the heights it should have. Although I do think he was a great player for us he always seemed to be playing for himself more than the shirt so I don't have any sympathy for him.
For the 5mins he spent with the scum, he has ruined a great legacy with LFC. As far as I am concerned he is dead! Good riddens you little judas cnut! What goes around comes around, you might get a move to QPR.
I have one mate who has supported LFC all his life and he is the only lad I know that would take Owen back
even getting away from the fact he signed for them why would you want him back.hes obviously commanded big wages at madrid newcastle and man ure so hed be looking a big wage.hes done nothing to justify any wage hes picked up since he left us unless ya want to pay him for being injured.thinking back now the only thing he probably done of note since he left was that winner against city in the 45th minute of injury time last season
For me Owen always thought about Himself and not about Us reds, England been a prime example of that, and altogether he scored us many a important goal, i dont think he'll ever command, or deserve the respect players like God, Carra will get, so i dont particularly care where he ends up as he always seems to out do himself in where he chooses to go..
Did he ever play for us?Always seemed to think of himself.Very disappointing how he ended up but thats what happens when you make consistently bad decisions.
It does seem like a long time ago. His 1st bad decision was leaving us the summner before we won the CL .... I bet he was bullin, not that we won but that he left. Then moving from the bench at RealM, hammers well rested, playing in only about 30 games a year to Newcastle and a releation dog fight, who will play him in every rough game ... what an agent he had!! He lost any respect I had for him, as it turns out, when he was telling us all lies, live on Sky Sports in January 2004
