Talksport have picked up on a story which we reported about yesterday which claims Liverpool are waiting for a response from FC Utrecht after offering £8.5m for their prolific striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
According to reports in Holland, the Eredivisie side will decide whether to accept the offer over the weekend and give Liverpool by Monday.
Van Wolfswinkel is one of the deadliest strikers on the continent having hit 11 goals in just 17 starts for 10th-place Utrecht this season.
And Liverpool were said to have been impressed by his performances against them in the Europa League, even though he failed to net as the pair drew 0-0 twice.
Dubbed the "new Van Basten" in his native Holland, Van Wolfswinkel, 21, has admirers in Germany and Italy, but Liverpool are the only side to have made a bid so far, according to sources.

sure whats the point in getting him IF torres stays, only if torres goes would i get dzeko, and this thread is about Ricky VW so we should keep it that way.
Is Ricky not out for a few months with a broken collarbone, would that not defeat the purpose of buying him, ala Aquaman

Yea slightly off thread but the recipe for success though extravagant is 4 strikers.

Rotation,injury etc.You can't pick a perfect team--it doesn't happen that way.
If you can afford a striker get him.

well imo, Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt, and Ngog are/should/could be doing a job all as forwards, albeit Gerrard playing off of Torres, we should be buying wingers to create width, but enough about this, dont want the ricky thread going way off topic

I remember when Bruno Cheyrou was dubbed the new Zidane. I hate it when players are compaired to greats and being Dubbed the new Van Basten is a legacy very few strikers would ever live up too.
