Just saw on sky sports that newcastle believed to be willing to listen to offers for barton in the region of 1.5 million.
I do not want us to sign him or anything but surely this guy is worth more than 1.5 mil,.toon fans cant be happy with this mike ashley is a joke!!

What do ye think of the robbie keane situation?Personally i feel he can still score goals in the premier league and would be ideal for someone like west ham

On his day, Barton is 10 million player, but he is very unpredictable. Seen even this season him punching Pedersen in the stomach for nothing. Too much baggage. I would say Pardew has come in and does not like the look of him and wants rid of him. Or Sky could be having a slow news day and are making up stories.

Joey Barton is a mad man but in today's market he is easily worth 7-10 million. He has been 1 of Newcastle's best players this season and when he has been suspended they have struggled. We could really use him out the right where he has been playing this season his crossing and deadball free kicks have been excellent. Won't happen but whatever clubs get him for 1.5million will get a bargain.

If you could manage him, he'd be a good purchase @ circa 2 million... Isn't he good mates with Gerrard??? He has two goals and four assists, nothing wrong with that this season!!

For that price he seems like a bargain for someone, but he can't get into the Newcastle team in his preferred centre mid position, he's been playin mostly on the right side of midfield for them. So wouldn't be keen on us buyin him.

I think it's more to do with the fact that Newcastle are weak on the rightside a bit like we did with Gerrard in the past. I'm sure if they had someone like Lennon, Barton would be starting in the centre of midfield everygame. I'll be amazed if Newcastle want to sell him.

Id take Andy Caroll with his 10 gaols and 9 assists, he would very good along side Torres... We need a big strong player to help him....

Reports suggest he would be around the 20 million mark. Top players and would be a brilliant signing but can't see us finding the money for that.

Newcastle seem pretty adamant that they're not selling him!!
Would be a great signing, might just be the rocket up the arse for Nando that he needs!!

Spot on.A Knacker of a player, and very over rated in my opinion.Has done **** all with his career and wasted it, when young lads who have never been given the chance through Injury or other reason, would have been kicking themselves seen the way he has gone on.

Every where he goes he is ****ing trouble. If you put him on a island on his own the stupid fcuker would still cause trouble.

As a professional footballer he's got to be worth 5-7 million in todays nutty transfer universe. As a human being he's worth about...well pick any big number you fancy and stick a " - " at the start of it.
The only reason it'd be worth seeing him at Melwood would be to see how many nanoseconds it'd take Carra to deck him in the first training session for being his usual scumbag self. (Obviously then terminate his contract so we never have to see him in the shirt :))

The only positive thing i can say about Barton is this...Five maybe six years ago Man City were playing Spurs in the league cup...Spurs were 3-0 up at half time...Barton starts mouthing off to the ref as he is walking off at half time...Gets sent off!!!..10 man Man City come back and win 3-4...One of the greatest matches i have ever seen....Other then that...Scumbag...People like him are the reason i have less interest in football these days...

Does Joey Barton seem to be a nice person? No. Is he a good footballer? Absolutely.

He can be a bit of a liability but for that price would be an absolute steal. I remember a few years back (05-06? When Citi wore Reebok kits and were sponsored by Thomas Cook) when he was IMHO one of the best players in the league. Of course thats a few years back but he still offers energy, grit and no little talent.

Sidenote on Barton. The Newcastle team were in Dublin for the weekend. On Sunday they were all in the Quays Bar in Temple Bar. Joey was skullin pints of Guinness.

There was a band on signing and all the players starting shouting up to them that Joey wanted to sing. They invited him up and he belted out Wonderwall! Hasn't a note in his head but fair play to him all the same he had the place rocking! :D
