Blackpool have revealed that they are in on-going talks with the Barclays Premier League to ensure the Boxing Day clash with Liverpool goes ahead.

The Tangerines do not have undersoil heating at Bloomfield Road and concerns have been raised that the Reds' visit could fall foul of the weather.

However, chairman Karl Oysten insists they are doing everything they can to ensure the game gets the green light.

Oysten said: "We can almost certainly guarantee the pitch will be playable but it is the prevailing conditions once the covers have been removed and whether the pitch will freeze before the end of the game taking place.

"That is one we are talking to the Premier League about to see what their standpoint and inspection protocol will be."

EDIT: Sorry could a mod change the heading to Blackpool away please.

Prob for the best it's called of, could do without losing there, maybe our away record will have improved before it's rescheduled. .

I can't understand why anyone would want this game to be called off. It's going to lead to a massive fixture pile-up.And who's to say we will win it at a later date.Plus the Boxing Day fixtures is the best thing about Christmas and it won't be the same if we're not playing.

That comment wasn't directed at just you.You have your reasons and if I was in your shoes I would want it postponed but for the reasons that I mentioned I think it's better that it does go ahead.

STEVE Thompson and Ian Holloway are becoming dab hands at shovelling snow.
The pair, as well as the restof the coaching staff, have been spending most of their time recently digging up piles of snow from the training ground so there is a patch of grass for the players to practise on.

It's not good for their backs, but it is helping the team stay in shape ahead of the Boxing Day clash with Liverpool.

"The groundsman had put covers down for us at the training ground the other day and the staff literally spent an hour shovelling the snow away," revealed Thompson.

"We made about a 60 by 30-yard area which we could train on. It wasn't ideal but at least it was a grassy area that the lads could get on.

"The weather is killing us at the moment because the snow and ice has been horrendous and it was frustrating to have a second successive home match called off.

"But the conditions affected every sporting venue across Britain, not just ours. Even the big clubs with the undersoil heating weren't able to cope at the weekend.

"What we'll have to do is try to have a behind-closed-doors game just to get the lads' legs going, but when you look at the conditions you wonder where we are going to get that game on because even the astro-turfs are freezing up."

Will be very surprised if this game goes ahead. Unless they fancy changing it to a game of ice hockey.

Pitch inspection scheduled for 12pm on the day of the game according to LFC.tv

Fair play to the Tangerines for doing everything they can to get this game played.
