and he has apparently fallen out with Houllier.

Quick fix though, he is around 30 now. I'd like to see some emphasis on youth.

Not for me. He has been a great defender for Ireland and in the Premier League but he’s 31 years old now, is not quick enough and I don’t see the point of bringing him in when we already have Skrtel, Soto, Agger and an injured Carra. Wilson & Kelly deserve the opportunity to be blooded.

I thought last season he could have been a decent shout but he's either class or pants, doesn't seem to be an inbetween with him and very poor this season so far.

I love him for Ireland but as other lads have said i'd like to see Kelly and Wilson given a go, we've bought too many short term players before imo.

Nice to hear Irish players are connected with the club, Richard Dunne might be good short term but the young players should get a chance but I would not be disapointed if he came he can still be very good there have been games where he was the best player on the field I was suprised when Man City let him go . . .

If were lookin for a good centre half id put my money on Hangland (Dunne is a cheap option)

So a Ex Everton Player we are looking at..Its been a while since we had one of those.. :D

All seriousness though, last season he was one of the players of the season. This season he seems to be picking up niggling injuries which is resulting in him losing abit of form for both club and country in my opinion. He is a decent solid no nonesese defender, who is also a aerial threat.

Id imagine a nice 2-3 mill bid would be a reasonable offer for him, but his wages id think would be over the 60 k a week margin. So what you have to think to yourself, is it all going to be worth it for maybe 2-3 years??

Personally id take as i like Dicky Dunne..

Don't think he is any better then what we already have and he is terrible this season, injuries aside. My buddy supports villa and wouldn't be too bothered to see him go. I'd rather see hangeland to be honest.I think with Henry at the helm we won't see many of these kind of signings though.

would have taken him in a heartbeat a year ago but now i'm not too sure...

think we need pace at the back, soto carra and skrtel are all painfully slow both in reactions and actual pace.

No.I quite like and rate(d?) Dunne but we're not going to improve and catch the teams above us by signing another stop gap player who needs to be shipped on in a season or 2.

Taking his age and FSG's transfer policy into consideration I reckon it's bollox anyway but on the other hands this has Hodgson signing written all over it.

Would agree with this. I think Dunne made a few clangers last season aswell but got away with it because he scored loads of goals and Villa were doing well. This season they are young team that are losing, so defensively they have been under more spotlight.

Don't get me wrong he has been a great player for Ireland and still is a very good Premier League player, I just think we need to be aiming for better players that we currently have, rather than more of the same.

Not a hope of this having any truth in it because of his age imo. Way too old to play more than a couple of matches for us a season and there's no resale value there.

Hasnt had a great season + I have a soft spot for him cos he is Irish - over looking his is an ex-blue nose - Id still have him, if not for anything else his experience in the premiership. The Yanks cant 'always' stick to that age policy, there has to be some leighway

With Agger about to return, and Skrtel, Kyrgiakos and Wilson we have 4 CB's. Even Kelly can play there, so we have 5. No need to spend money on a CB.

A truely shocking centre half. I suppose he is fairly consistent and will get the odd goal but he carrys a bit of weight and is in no way good enough to take this team up to the next level..

Would only be coming in to the same job as Soto so quite happy with what we have. I do rate him but there is no need for him in our squad at the moment we already have two CB in there 30's.

I would play him over Skrtel anyway and Agger is never fit to actually play a game. Doubt going happen but.

Dunno, Dunne always looks overweight for a top flight footballer to me. Bulk is one thing but.....

I like him too. Dunne wouldn't make any sense really at this stage for either party.

Brother in law, a big villa fan, told me he smacked mcallister on the training ground...he had words with Houllier and wont play for Villa again..

would be seriously disappointed if this is the level of player we start buying under henry. don't think he is any where near good enough to play for any team that's ambition is to challenge for the premiership.

So did Jan Molby .. come to think of it he actually was way over weight for top flight football, but didnt mean he wasnt a class player. Id take Dunne, if not for anything else-just to add something different in there and he scores goals, our centre back situation is the worse I think Ive seen it for many, many years.

Ah, he is too good for that Club and League. Scottish football is dirt.
