Been unemployed since Feb now. few days here and there. Pocket money for a few points. But chin up, keep going. We live in hope and all the usual cliches. There is positives from been unemployed. More time to play golf. A chance to do a bit of D.I.Y. at home More time with family and wife and making the first team with 500 posts Never would have made 500 posts only I had some time on my hands. Anyone else got positive points or views about been unemployed.
Been looking, but out of work on & off for last year & a bit, no real positives! You can't beat your own few € in your pocket at the end of the week/month. Can go out for a pint if/when you want, buy what you want, go wherever you want when you want, gigs, holidays etc..... Bit of pride knowing you've earned what's in your pocket too!
i know it aint easy lads but keep the heads up.......i was outta work for a year or so then got work in Boston scientific(who are now takin on again i hear, thru kelly services)then got sick and needed a minor op and was layed of while in hospital(i reckon cause of my sickness,no proof tho)then after another 8-9 months on the dole(only gettin E60 cause i was self-employed ina previous life)now im workin nights ina job i despise(inspecting contact lenses),but i know how lucky i am....so keep goin lads something will turn up
Positives about being unemployed, i'm 2 years unemployed this xmas. One thing I have learned to do while being out of work is how to look after my money better. Making that 190 euro a week last a lot longer than my wages when I was working, which was decent being an electrician. I'v also completed a Degree in engineering and currently studying for an Honours degree, all courses paid for by the VEC, which is Government funded. I probably wouldn't have applied myself to these courses if I was still on the site and not unemployed. Plenty of time to play golf also, which is the best thing about not working!
Mate, Everyone pays taxes and social contributions when they are working, so all your doing is getting some of your money back when your unemployed for a while and signing on .... you should be as proud as anyone else, it's your money Not sure of this is of interest to anyone here or not, but Citibank are hiring - vacancies in Dublin, NI & Waterford. Also, Facebook want another 100 people Agree 100% with the strategy of going on to educate yourself further when unemployed also, if it's an option open to you ... will stand to you in the long term, the more you can get on your CV.
Good man McLovin. You're pepareing yourself for the long road. Doing a business, office and computer course myself. Time to re-train and educate myself. Re golf.... Has your handicap come down?
I'm a fairly active person, I have to put my mind to something, if the government are willing to pay for ye to educate yourself why not. As regards the important thing, golf, I don't have an official handicap just yet, but my golf has improved a lot in the last year. I'm able to give my 2 brothers a good game, both have being playing since about 12 or 13, now in there mid 30's, they havn't beat me in the last 2 games, so i'm using that as my benchmark. i'v only taken it up in the last few years since i gave up the football.
I was unemployed from Sep to April. The free time is great (albeit you cant appreciate it not knowing when it'll end). To be honest my dole money gave me enough to go out on the piss every weekend with occaisional weekends away. But then I was staying at home. And Christmas was amazing. Free time to do the 'Santa' shopping. Staying up late watching films and going out every day or other day for the week after Christmas.
back in the world of employment Well for a couple of months anyway. God bless the snow and all those bust pipes
I was searching for jobs on Jobs.ie the other day, there are TWO jobs in carlow which can be done in dublin!
