Just a bit of advice lads! If anyone has never had a health check in recent years, don't be so lazy and head down and get a checkover by the doc! I always said to myself i was too young(23) to need one that i'm grand - ended up in hospital on Monday with chest pains/diziness! Cholestorel through the roof, few things that could have been prevented had i went the docs once a year Have to go for more tests over the coming weeks(thank fcuk for vhi) No travelling, Alcohol & certain foods allowed for a few months
Fella I know was whipped into hospital recently complaining of dizziness etc....clot on the brain! Was near the front so they went up through the nose rather than slicing him open. Has to go back for more tests & stuff.
Everyone should take Rev's advice I'm involved in a lot of research studies at work. All our subjects would get screened before participating and you'd be amazed at the amount of people with health problems, and most of the time they know nothing about it until we tell them, everything from high cholesterol to heart problems. I also teach on a cardiac physiology class and every year we have at least one student who needs to get referred to see a cardiologist and these are young fit kids in their late teens and early 20s. 2 of them actually had to get internal defibrillators put in.
Now I'm worried!! It's scary alright! I never paid attention to health issues being honest and I know alot of my generation are the same! Trying to convince my mates to all go the doctor- I hadn't been since I was 9! Going to a cardiologist on Monday for a holter monitor and assessment!
Rev Hope your alright mate ... Must admit, I'm an absolute coward and won't go for anything, for fear of being told something I don't want to hear .. infact, I'm even afraid of needless, so won't give blood, dodge any chance of an injection etc.
keep putting it off, need to go for that mens m.o.t. some time in the new year.finger up the hole and so on- hate the doctor.
Hope you're okay Rev. And you're right. I'm brutal myself. In my mid-thirties and rarely been to a doc. You've got me thinking it's probably a good idea to go for a check-up soon.
Have Asthma myself and be at the docs at least twice a year. In one way its good because if anything else is bothering ya, can just ask them.
jaysus, the way ye used to run around the pitch when we played the astro i would've never known.i used to be boll1xed just looking at ye.. seriously though,i've been meaning to go somewhere for a proper mot for a long time now,is there any good/reasonably priced places that anyone could recommend?
Went to my doc, was passing blood, got the finger treatment TWICE in same appointment in Beaumont, HOLY S**T! They sent me for a colonoscopy in St Joseph's Raheny in July. Went fine, felt nothing, said it was a dietary thing, not enough fibre!
