Not the type of thread you would probably see on any normal footy forum but I've noticed like myself a few of the lads/lasses have become parents this year. So with that in mind I thought we could stick info in here that might help us bring up thriving young reds! Anyway I'll go 1st. We started spoon feeds when Finn was about 5 months, after about 2 weeks though he wouldn't open his mouth for anything. So for the last 2 months or so we have been doing baby led weaning, were they basically feed themselves with finger foods. It is tough at 1st (and bloody messy) but he now has the hang of it and is eating away. Also has anyone ever flown a long haul flight (11 hours) with a baby? Any hints on how to entertain etc etc? Is there any medicine recommended? Cheers in advance
I'm a father a month on Friday, at 20 naturally i'm fcukin clueless. All i know now is these facts. The 3-4 hours between feeds is the quickest 3-4 hours of your life. The feeding/winding/changing process feels like it takes 3-4 hours. Packing 65 babygrows, 27 vests and 74 bottles for a 5 minute walk is essential if your a lady. You do not sleep. I have recently become extremely commited to going back training ( for some respite). All babies look the same regardless. Old women will claim that the baby looks like everyone. Nobody cares about the da. You get no sleep. You fall way behind at Uni. You get no sleep. Obviously being a father is a wonderful experience and withnessing the birth of you're child is an experience that you have to witness to understand. I would love help with one thing, the baby will sleep for hours on end in the day, but refuses point blank to sleep at night in her baskey, how do you change this.
hahahahahahah i'm after having one of the shittiest mornings in a long time but this post just made me laugh out loud here! My young lad is just over four months old now and in fairness, he's been very good. He sleeps right through now and apart from acting up a little last thing at night when we put him down he's been grand. The missus has done all the hard work though, i've gotten away lightly
Id say dont let the baby sleep during the day, and hopefully tire it out, or a spoonful of whicky ,. Ah in all seriousness, sounds like your doing a great job, fair play mate,.
my twins were two in october and at the moment the days are filled with constant demands for train on stopping one biting the other and when we have to go to work sneaking out so as to prevent a hour long tantrum that theyve been left behind!!!
Well i might be able to help, just had my 5th child in august so i mite have a bit of experience, try not let the child sleep to long during the,(no brainer)ha ha ha,when you put the child to bed at nite what way do you wrap her up?the best thing to do is put blanket in triangle shape put her in blanket wit her arms by her side and wrap the blanket around her,its suppose to resemble the tightness of the womb so they feel all comfy.hope it helps.all questions welcome!ha ha ha
It must be the weather cos I was up from 3 to half 4 this mornin with my little fella, anyone noticed when they are asleep in your arms when you put them into the cot there is an invisible button in their back that sets them off crying.. twinkle twinkle little star how i wonder why you won't go to sleep!!!!!! He sleeps through the night most nights but will only fall asleep in your arms and roars if you put him into the cot for a sleep at night and won't sleep during the day unless in the car or walking. 11hr flight sounds like a nightmare...
Ye took them all on planes when they where babys but not long haul,i think the longest was 5 hours, but the best thing is dozal or calpol, they will sleep once they get comfy,if he watches cartoons bring a portable dvd player they are great,oh and bring the xtra bottles,oh he doesnt like the taste of the dozol or calpol just put a couple of spoons into his bottle no harm.
Yea experts say the baby can hear and feel your heart beat when in your arms we had this problem with the last child. Bought one of those toys that bolt onto the cot and plays music and has toys that turn around this worked well when I put her to bed but not when mum did. Always start as you mean to go on I know its hard but give the child 10 to 15 mins in the cot even if he is crying bet he will be asleep before you have a cup of tea made and drank
Did the wrappin up with mine. Slept like a log. right through the night from 12 to 8. From one week old until she started teething! Best bit of advice you'll ever get. Mine's near 12 now.
How to bring up thriving reds. This is my only advice. Make sure the child knows about Hillsborough. Tell them about that paper from the minute they can understand you. Allow the child to spit only when that paper is mentioned. Take the child to Anfield. Make sure the child knows that its children WILL be red and any future boyfriend/girlfriends will not be allowed up the garden path wearing any other team colours. My Daughter is almost 12 now and Red through and through. I'm from Liverpool so am very militant with the things I've just said. I need the kidder to be Scouse as well as Irish. Know her roots like. Her Irish relatives will teach her about being Irish and I'll make her a Red. I will once again take this op to show this off http://www.scousenotenglish.co.uk/#/hillsborough/4533475278 (I'd also say don't smoke, drink or swear around your kids. They copy everything. And grounding + lecture on how whatever behaviour has made you feel works a treat. Some people smack their kidders don't they. Try not to shout as well)
i was fairly lucky with my little one she alwys slept through the night from when she was born, last feed at 12 then straight through til 7, blessed we were, as for the flights a portable dvd with the kids favourite cartoon would be a godsend and have a bit of calpop handy and they would be out like a light
we were lucky when it came to jack sleeping through he would get a feed at 12 and nearly always sleep through till 6 or 7 i hope the next one is like that. as for long haul flights 2 and a half hours to spain in the summer was the longest i've done with him thankfully there was a couple across from us on the flight and they had a little girl so they kept each other amused. I see dozol has been mentioned above i taught i read somewere that they were banned from selling it over here?
My young lad is the same think he has OCD with doors, As he will go into bed during the night no prob but say 4-5 in the morning he will without fail come into us in the bed to get the heat (not comfortable at all) but before he does this he comes out of his bedroom runs into ours to see if we are there when he notices that we are he runs back to his room to shut his door then proceeds to close the sitting room door behind him before he then closes our bedroom door which takes him all of 2 minutes but the funny thing is he has to always check to see if we are in bed before he does this. Mad OCD I swear. Woke up last night with him sitting on my head fast asleep mind.
Received this advice when the first of our 2 was born and it has worked perfectly. The child will scream etc when they know you're going to take them up. 2/3 rounds of crying themselves to sleep definitely works. If they're dry, not hungry and not sick (no temp etc) DO NOT take them up after you put them to bed. A bath before hand will knock them out also.
my little lad is 14 months now and has slept all night from about 2months..from 8 till 7.30..he's so independantly minded because he wants to do everything for himself...as in wont eat unless he's feeding himself!..as for the long haul flight..i have no experience in that but all i can say is good luck!..you'll probably need it!
