i've just been looking at my credit card statement online and came across this..
    18/11/2010 **PURCHASE INTEREST** - 9.09
does anyone know what that is?
never seen that on any of my statements before.it's bad enough that they started charging a currency conversion fee not too long ago for foreign transactions,if they start trying to sneak this purchase interest in they can fook off!

Did you not clear your bill or did you use your card to take out cash?

I know if you don't pay your bill by 5pm on the day it's due to be paid these sort of charges kick in.

in all the time i've had my credit card i've always cleared my bill on time,i've never had to pay any interest.sure the same day as they took that money i transferred 400 euro from my bank account on to my credit card.
i've used it to take money out of atm's in the past, especially abroad and the charge has always only been a euro or 2.
it's a strange one,i haven't got on to them yet about it but if it appears again i defo will..

I'd say give them a ring now Willie and see what the story is. it sounds like you've been charged for not clearing you bill or something. why pay it to them if you don't have to.

    Hi Willie

Have you been using that credit card to pay for deposits / lodgements to your accounts at online bookies, poker sites etc - that may be causing this entry to appear on your statement ?

Nah mate,I don't go near any sites like that.
I rang them today and they said it was interest on the card.
Suppose there's a first time for everything, going to have to keep an eye on it from now on so that it doesn't happen again..

That could be from cash withdrawals mate, I think for purchases they dont charge interest (as long as you clear your bill), but if you take cash out, they charge it from the minute the cash comes out the machine :(

    Sorry mate ...

Anyway, from what you've said above it's not something you pay regularly, which is a good thing needless to say....
