Hi, Basically I have an issue with WiMax, they are trying to charge me 100 installation fee, for the engineer who just left a box with instructions on my bed,. And in the bill it states that I only pay the 100 fee if there is an outdoor unit installed,. This never happened,. Now I did agree to pay 100 installation in the event I needed an outdoor unit,. But again this did not happen,. They said on the phone that I will have to pay it or they will cut me off and I may be laible to prosecution,. They also said that they had signed me up for an outdoor unit, so I should have paid the 100 fee,. But I got no outdoor unit, and the engineer never even mentioned an outdoor unit, and was not aware I was to receive an outdoor unit,. Anyone reckon I have a case? it also clearly states on their website under the section 'my bill - explained simply' that the 100 fee is for the installation of an outdoor unit only,.
Did the engineer ask you to sign anything? Get them to get in touch with the engineer that was sent, will have it on file, and he should have some sort of "job sheet" which will list what was included in the call out, id go as far as asking them to call out, free of charge obviously, to show you received no outside box.
They have it on record that I only got an outdoor box, but they are saying that because they sent an engineer he has to be payed, and If i dont pay them for they engineer they will have to pay him,. I said its not my fault, they agreed and yet, I still have to pay it, im going to try get as much advice as I can before ringing back on Monday,. If not, I want the engineer back out to install the outdoor unit, and take down the old Irish Broadband unit,. I never signed anything, it was all done by phone, through a third party veryfier,. I never got the option either of an outoor unti or an indoor unit,. I was told that I dont have coverage for an indoor unit,. So I have to pay 100 for a service and equipment I did not receive, nor did I have the option to receive,. One of their reps also told me that, because, i was an Irish Broadband customer there would be no installation fee,.
Does anyone know if there are any solicitors on here? Who could let me know if I have a case or not,. They are adamant im paying that fee,. And they wont let me cancel out of the contract either,. So i want to either cancel out, or not pay the fee,.
is the box working and are you happy with it? if so ring them back and tell them as much but tell them you're not paying the 100 euro fee and if they want to push it you're going to cancel the direct debit, return the box and they can take you to court...
It works,. Im happy with it when the weather is nice,. When the weather is bad, its fairly slow,. I may go with the above route, but I was made pay 150 of the total bill of 198 or they'd cut me off and until the full 198 plus a fee of 75 was paid,. so i've paid for a month in advance too,.
you could try contacting comreg and see if they can help you out.. http://www.comreg.ie/ if i was you i wouldn't be paying for something i didn't get. leave them take you to court..
You have a cooling off period Elvis so therefore tell them you don't want a service off someone that don't provide it properly. either they come down and fit the outdoor unit you were told you were getting or come back and take their property this is prob wat they are threatening you over!! Tell them there service is bad as there is only 1bar showing up and this was not what you expected and false advertisment is wat you got. You don't want to deal with them and say eircom are offering you a better deal, they will sonn change their tune mate believe me!!
i had the exact same problem with them, the service was crap i cancelled and paid them up to the day i used it, thay are chasing me for the installation fee but ive told them to take me to court, the guy came and plugged it into the socket put it on my windowsill checked it and left. couldnt have been more than ten mins. i was also told when i signed up months before the service was active that they would waive any fee if i needed an outdoor box. (in the end the guy said i didn't need one) but still charging my 99 quid for installation. the same company ran irish broardband anjd as far as i can see it was a similar setup and they posted out the box for that and i done it myself. dont pay them mate, let them take you to court. joke of a service and company. Rant over.
Elvis I suspect your within your rights to tell them to sod off, but you might want to get a professional opinion - a quick call to the Consumer Association of Ireland should be enough to reassure you: http://www.consumerassociation.ie/ I'd similar trouble with Irish Broadband years ago - ultimately told them to go stick it and after a few telephone calls form their staff trying to get me to pay them, they finally got lost. One thing for sure, the couple of stories on this thread alone would be enough to put me off using WiMax !
garrett steer well clear, i can see their eye site from my house and still the service was crap, went through a month of continuing calls trying to sort it, got fed up and just cancelled it. told me i was lying about been told about no fees when i was cancelling. have advised all my mates to stay well away from them.
you should try getting in touch with your man dermot jewel from the consumer association he goes on q102 radio twice a week on the scot williams show to help people with such issues, he helped me last year with a problem i had with a phone company, see if you can get an address for the scot williams show and mail them !
