we live in, no right to protest, somethings going to give early on next year unless Fianna Fail go soon. A lot of unemployed disenfranchised young men will get very angry very soon, only thing to keep them quiet is a drugs epidemic & mass emigration. I'd love to see a politician/activist I could respect.
Problem is no young people worth making a difference is interested in politics. They way you get into a party is through family connections and like. Politicans in this country (esp Fianna Fail) ruined the image of being politician. The majority of young people see them as corrupt, inept and out for their own good. In the last election a lot of my friends voted independent as they don't trust any of the parties. You hear Lenihan on the radio this morning confirming the IMF are coming in and he is still trying to bluff that it's only contingency. Then you see the opposition Politicans lined up to have their say. Not one of them would inspire anyone. It's so depressing most people ignore the news.
a politician saying that in any other country would have been run out of office. Up there with saying the jews wanted to go to ghettos to be together.

apologies, too many mad marys in that house, it was coughlan who apparently threw a "Do you know who I am" in one of the coffee shops near the dáil not too long back
IF it wasnt so serious I'd laugh. 10 years of "boom" and we will be paying for it for the next 50 years at least.
There is an election on Thursday in Donegal. Some chap is gonna get elected, work for about 3 weeks, get about 6 weeks holidays and then get himself ready for a another election. Not sure if I'm correct about this but if the the same chap wins both elections will he be entitled to one of those super pensions TD's get when they serve 2 terms in the Dail? Banana republic is right.
