Adam Johnson admits he may have to consider his future at Manchester City if his chances continue to be restricted.

The 23-year-old moved to Eastlands from Middlesbrough in this year's January transfer window and made a seamless transition to the Barclays Premier League.

His form prompted a call-up to Fabio Capello's preliminary 30-man England squad although he failed to make the final cut for the World Cup.

However, Johnson has started just five league games this season and, although he insists all he wants to do is become established for City, he admits he may have to consider moving on.

"Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes. It is still early but I definitely would consider it."

imo would definitly be worth a shot, id drive to manchester to pick the lad up myself if i had to. would be a couple of million but you're getting a lad that has a proven track record and is only going to get better by playing more games.

Would City sell to Liverpool though, especially with SWP supposedly going out on loan in Jan

If we had the money, I'd be all over him.

doubt he'll go out on loan, if he's not needed he'll b out the door, no matter what people say about the money city have, if they can recoup some back, they will.

I very much doubt he was a Mancini buy. He'll not be going anywhere and will warm their bench for years to come. He' on big bucks so won't be too unhappy, it was the money that drew him there he never thought he'd get a regular game with their all stars.

City do not have to sell for money and are in a strong position to keep him from all their rivals, oh and us. Johnson would be a great buy for us but forget it, it isn't going to happen.

Once Mancini is fired, he will be in their team week in week out so he will stay there.

Johnson on one of our wings. Young English a proper wide man, we have been calling out for a player like this for years.

I know other media have picked up on this story and you may not have realised it but posting stories from The S** is not on because as we all know they tell lies and for that reason I am closing this thread.

Just to clarify things the original poster asked me to point out that he posted this story from the Irish Times website.

I would ask anybody who posts a newspaper story in any thread to provide a link at all times.
