Just lookin at where they will be placed, seems a air few alrite on the N11 which is the route i use most up and down to work. Garda website is down but can get them elswhere hers a quick run down of them http://www.garda.ie/gosafe.htm Supposed to be paying the private company a salary rather than on comission , but there goin to say that anyway http://www.rte.ie/news/2010/1115/cameras.html
No. Theres a few hundred possible locations but they won't say where the mobile camera units are at any given time. This means people will have to be wary at all the locations instead of just 17.
Dam speed cameras, this morning took an extra 15mins longer, to get to work, I'll have to get up out of bed 15mins earlier now, I heard there going to be ruthless *******s, in a 50 km zone if your doing 51 Bang 2 points and fine.
I thought all speed cameras had a built in margin of error of 10%. That means if you were doing 54 in a 50kmh zone you would be alright.
there was ment to be a 10% margin, but know alot of people done in a 30 zone doing 32 to 33, this is a new company and its out there to make money, and to keep our roads safe, id say in 5 years they'll be in every tree it will be like big brother on the streets, once theres money to be made they'll keep adding more and more
Sorry Eoin it was early enough so didn't notice but looking at the map in the above link there seems to be a fair few on the N11 between Bray and Gorey.
There has to be a margin of error - the car's speedo isn't always correct! Tyre wear , pressure etc can all have an effect on the displayed speed! Thats why sat nav's and speedo's are always off! I'd say there's a 5% error margin
Yes i was listening to the radio this morning and they were talking about this and they said if your doing 51 in 50 a zone your cream crackered.
This may cause more hassle in some cases where people are too busy looking at the speed they are doing than looking at the road I know i am not only one who has driven in the 30kmph zone on the quays in town and struggled to keep the speed Spent more time looking down than straight ahead!
